Yeah, but I can see this being useful for non-tech-savvy people who want an affordable phone on a retired plan that doesn't offer good device promotions that are planning to stay with tmobile for 2+ more years.

Rocking a moto edge 2022 now because my Samsung drank water. Lifelong Samsung user.

Don't hate moto until you have tried it. It works for most use cases. Camera is the only issue

The Edge 2022 was probably the best phone that T-Mobile has ever offered for free on older plans without adding a new line.

Is T-Mobile's ridiculous upgrade fee still required if you upgrade your phone at Walmart, even though activation/upgrade of a phone simply requires switching your sim card from your old phone to the new one?

I am in for a moto 2024 if it is free-ish. 2022 cost me $46 per line and costco gave 75 back. If someone has tried this, can they post the upgrade cost

Do we have to speak to one of the phone sales reps at the Walmart store to do make a note on the account or something?

It could be worth it to use these phones as trade-in devices. Right now, the Moto G 5G Stylus is worth $115 for trade in value

Edit: also, it looks like there's a way to load GSI images onto the phone once it's rooted.

I don't think this deal deserves this many downvotes. If you plan to stick with T-Mobile for two more years and aren't planning to get a flagship phone on a payment plan on the line, these are pretty much free phones, and November's post for a $150 Moto G Stylus with AT&T add-a-line was positively received.

That said, two best choices from the lineup are the Moto G Stylus 2024 and the Galaxy A16. The Stylus is equipped with 8GB of RAM, which is very helpful at this point in time, but Motorola/Lenovo won't support it with future updates. So its maybe not the best for long-term usage if you're going to be entering in banking/personal information. On the other hand, Samsung is promising six years of updates with the A16, but it only has 4 GB of RAM. All of these phones are extremely slow, low-end devices, pretty comparable performance-wise with flagships from 2016, but they should be okay for very casual users who just watch videos and use messaging/social media.

Agreed, desterpot is got screwed on the S25 post and now this post. Just add Costco to this title and you'll get 50 upvotes!

The Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 is a solid mid-tier phone, great for free and no plan change. I am using a bottom of the barrel Tracfone Moto G Play 2023 with Brotato, Duolingo, and Newpipe. This Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 should handle mid-tier games. Debloat the T-mobile and Moto apps to make it run faster.

My only hesitation is with the Walmart cellular employees. Are these the same contractors that have to be chased down for Straight Talk deals at Walmart?
