Yes, just keep in mind those sets don't normally include coveted drawer boxes.

I looked at Milwaukee, Ridgid, Harbor Freight, Hart, Hyper Tough, Klein, Flex, DEWALT, Makita and Husky. I'd rank them this way:

#1 - Milwaukee if money is no object. Nearly twice the price of Husky. Tons of accessories.

#1 - Husky for value and functionality and lockable as well. There's lots of accessories but not to the Milwaukee level.

I won't list all the down sides to the others but this Craftsman series has very little in the way of accessories. I do however recommend everyone visit a HD and Lowes to see for themselves. Also recommend drawers versus chests so you don't have to unstack everything to get to your tools.

HUSKY
  • single drawer - $63
  • two drawer - $80
  • three drawer - $76
  • dolly - $39
  • work top - $18
  • case with 270 pc tool set - $129
  • 3 piece rolling kit - $149

For $99 sale price I got the full Husky stack rolling case with tool box a parts box and a parts box with the 2nd tier that slides up and out. I used a gasket rubber silicon on lids to make it water proof, and it works great. Better than the IRGID as its larger and I like the metal latch locks much more. Better than the plasic wheels Dewalt and the way its laid out, and lot less bulky than the Millwakee. It may not be as tough built and not made so much for everyday use, but for a little tool organizing for the home garage, its a great deal...WTTool is this POShiny deal? lol

This is regular $79 dropping $10 to $69. Only thing tricking the newbs is the $109 jacked price for a week. Hardly slick. Most of the chains are discontinuing Craftsman tools from what I can tell and doubtful any accessories are coming for plastic tool boxes flying a dying flag.

When time is money, tool organization is key in the construction industry. To spend $2k+ on toolbox systems might seem outrageous to most, but these are worth their weight in gold to those who use them daily. These types of toolbox systems have been a huge improvement for myself and other tradesmen I know. Milwaukee is charging a premium, have many options, and are excellent quality but are not for everyone. I could not justify the price of Milwaukee because the Ridgid Pro 2.0 setups offer 90% of what Milwaukee has for $100 - $150 less per setup and are also excellent build quality. In my opinion, the Ridgid system is the best overall system when factoring price, options, quality. DeWalt and Ryobi's stuff is very mediocre, Klein and some others brands have tried to jump in but their offerings are more expensive and very gimmicky. The Craftsman and Husky lines might be fine for Homeowners, but they will not last for professional daily use.

My use case was convenience, organization and portability.

1) As you can see, already lots of storage, none of it portable.
2) I use to take 2X 40 gallon storage tubs with me, terrible for organization.
3) I have a 3.5 car garage front (pictured) and a 2 car garage back of the house. Makes moving my tools MUCH easier.
4) I had the Harbor Freight setup which was OK, but got sick of having to unstack to reach my tools. Drawers are a game-changer.

When I'm at the track I take the 1 drawer, 2 drawer, tool kit and dolly. Makes a great stool as well.

Got a link to that product? I am not finding it on Amazon (at any price).

Unless you are thinking of the VersaStack mechanic tool kit; not the same.

Pretty sure the versastack tool kit is what I'm thinking of. Close enough to the same that I wouldn't purchase this version for $30 less with no tools.

Well it depends. The VersaStack case has very specific places for the tools that come with it. So if you need a set of tools it's great. If you need general purpose storage, it's not so great because it's not designed for that and the tools that come with it are occupying all their respective spots.

(Not to mention size and durability differences.)

People can obviously do what they want, but it's important to be clear and non misleading on purported differences so people can make the right choice for their situations.
