It looks like you need to play a game each week by watching the show
The Olympics thing gave first 20,000 a pin, but for the giftcard you had to click through like 35 'info boxes' over the course of few weeks.
THIS SNL 50th Anniversary thing doesn't have any giftcard, and you only have to click one box total as first 20,000 people to do so gets the deck of cards (in a few weeks/months shipped to your house).

Reading through the FAQs, it's likely because we pay a subsidized rate through a negotiated bulk contract.
