If you think I'm joking, check your own current paid ISP plan's terms of service. Non-trivial probability they're already doing similar to you, at least if you're not protected by something like the EU's GDPR.
Is that what's going on here, or is their business model different somehow?
Anyways...So they will pay you in their crypto token., Which they then accept as payment.Or you can sell yourself. Im assuming they are going to expand on this somehow.
Also a while back they were talking about another app that carriers were going to opt into that allows people to use each others phones a a hotspot for a small fee.
Just a guess but maybe something with this as well.
They are not the only company going this way there are going to be some announcements very soon of others going this path

i was tempted to give it a try but with all the privacy concerns and the issues they are having signing people up, i'm gonna wait it out awhile. I got enough Freedompop and FreeUp free plans to manage already at this point. This one is tempting due to the extra data, so i'll just watch and see how it works.
I don't want my facial, home address, email, phone number fed to hackers on a silver platter.
I know there were people complaining about failed signup attempts Wednesday morning. Not sure if it has been since fixed or not.
There is/was a glitch where users on the free plan were getting throttled to 64kbps after using 512mb of data. Helium replied by asking the customer to email [email protected] so they can adjust some settings on their account.
The 3gb given to free users is supposed to be prioritized data. I have heard conflicting reports whether data stops at 3gb or not. Will have to wait a little bit to find that correct answer.
Helium has a webpage where they show exactly how many users have signed up for their service. Before the announcement of a free plan, they had about 124,000 signups. Two days later, they are now around 129,000. Helium said they would be thrilled to reach 1,000,000 by the end of 2025. Seems a bit optimistic to me to think of numbers that large, but we shall see.

Also, how do we even sign up? once I click the free plan, it's taking me to a page where they are asking to download their app and hence the question
I am wondering though, if you can enable location sharing "while using the app only" and still qualify for the Zero plan, or if they will warn you to enable full time access first. They don't seem to give a lot of details on this. Also wondering if there is Hotspot.
This can def still be a main line for someone. I have a friend who every time he used to call, would only limit our conversation to <1 minute and when texting would fill the whole character limit like back in the days when text didn't used to be free

Use Google voice then this can be your main line. You just use data for call/text
