If someone asked me how to make a free mobile data plan, my very first thought would be "control its DNS, packet-inspect everything on my network so I can tell who's doing what, sell that info to data brokers, advertisers, marketing agencies, etc., and insert enough legalese to my long-AF-that-nobody-reads-it terms of service that it's totally OK for me to do that." Classic case of "if it's free, it's because you are the product."

If you think I'm joking, check your own current paid ISP plan's terms of service. Non-trivial probability they're already doing similar to you, at least if you're not protected by something like the EU's GDPR.

Is that what's going on here, or is their business model different somehow?
Right now their 20$ a month plan turns out to cost a couple of dollars a month if you opt in to their location tracking. They are trying to build a network of hotpots to fill in what traditional cell towers miss. Turn on tracking and they map whenever they hit one of their hotspots. Then they try to get new ones in empty areas.

Anyways...So they will pay you in their crypto token., Which they then accept as payment.Or you can sell yourself. Im assuming they are going to expand on this somehow.

Also a while back they were talking about another app that carriers were going to opt into that allows people to use each others phones a a hotspot for a small fee.
Just a guess but maybe something with this as well.

They are not the only company going this way there are going to be some announcements very soon of others going this path
I gave them my email address for spam, so we'll see. Right now it looks like they just offer one plan -- $20/mo for unlimited.

Funny I go through all that bullshit and take a picture of the front and back of my Drivers license, then take a selfie and turn left and right and they say verification unsuccessful you might have reached our limit of one person per plan.
As far as I am concerned this was just a data grab and seems like a Scam to me
I'm having the same issue. They have my driver's license front and back, after taking the selfies it failed. I cleared data of the app, now I'm getting "Something went wrong, please try again."

Ok, I failed verification but customer support got back to me a bit over 24 hours later (after sending me an initial email earlier today saying they were looking into it), now my free account is good to go! Definitely going to be a 'sockdrawer phone', but at least their customers service is responsive.
LOL! bot much?
I contacted them **5 days ago** and they got back to me **today** to not say anything other than to say:
***
<"we thank you for your feedback (while not answering the questions) blahblahblah"...>
If you have more queries or need assistance regarding the verification process, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Best Regards,

I hope you're doing well. I wanted to check if you're still connected to our chat session; it's been a few hours since the last message, and I wanted to make sure we could keep the communication going. Can you let me know that you're still here? I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I'm sorry, but WHAT!? What "chat session"? This was email.
"keep the communication going"? What was the use to begin with when nothing was answered and you just said "If you have more queries feel free to reach out"?
It should've been easy for them to explain whether or not they were the middleman for Persona and have access to the info that they **THEN** pass to Persona to process, or if they have the procedures like merchants implementing paypal as a payment option where you are redirected to paypal to authenticate and confirm payment.

If this does materialize, I probably wouldn't use a number you don't want to lose. Of course, if you're doing the Google Voice forwarding tactic this won't matter.

I had my personal number on ring plus when it went belly up. Plenty of time and chances to port out and keep it safe. Never had an issue porting in or out from anywhere really. I've been on well over a dozen carriers over the years. I'm not saying port issues don't happen, but quit the scare tactics.

Nothing is free. Ring+ started out ok but they kept wanting you to upgrade with better "one-time" fee for more data. I did this like half a dozen times on a few lines. Didn't lose much money but I definitely didn't trust their business model to use them permanently for my cellular service. It was just fun spare lines I knew that would eventually die, it was just a matter of time. I see this "free" service as no different, I bet after some time they will force you to pay $5-$10 / mo for one of their cheap plans, it will be like Freedompop which is way worse than Ring+

I bet this will have catches like ads, very slow data (3g) unless you pay to upgrade for higher priority speed, etc. I wouldn't depend on this for your main cellular service.

Actually I think this is sustainable and not too expensive for helium to offer. You can get a 1gb plan with unlimited talk and text for $5 a month (good2go). I would imagine this would be a similar cost, if that. Data over hotspots is free to helium. I would think a decent amount of the free users would convert to paid accounts. Will be interesting to see how this plays out

Ehm, I think you're misconstruing (understandably given the placement of "bot" on the first line) that I was attributing "bot" to you when it was directed towards the "Wes" support user.

Installation of app is not mandatory for service.
It's required only if you want to earn their crypto tokens by giving up your location info.
Im pretty sure if you're on the free plan its require. Not for paid though

It seems that the limit is one per household. When another person from my household tried to order, they were able to verify. However, the SIM couldn't be ordered. It always gave a error that the order failed.

infimobile 15gb unlimited talk/text plan is just under $10/month at amazon.

this helium plan is worth only $2 for your hassles.
By that logic, find me a $2 plan with 3gb of data, I'll wait.
There is a base cost for 3gb. It's not proportional. I wager this plan as it sits is worth around $7 a month on the open market. You're also comparing infimobile promo price to a non promo helium plan. Hardly apples to apples here.
