Use the alternating technique. Year 1 you be the primary and your partner the secondary. Year 2 switch , your partner be the primary and you secondary. This way you can always get new member promos. I have been using a Free or fully rebated membership (one year even a money maker) for past 5 years now.
Yes, you can turn off auto renew. But be careful when checking out in the store. I've had a screen in the self checkout line pop up asking me about auto renew and it was defaulted to accept it. I had to deselect it to continue. It was kind of deceiving.
Also, their gas is similar in price to Costco, but it isn't Top Tier certified.
Just a heads up. Did the stack social $40 for one year of plus BJ's membership deal. Code worked on BJ's website. Plus membership was granted. Picked up membership cards. Store employees knew nothing about the promo which was spend $120 get $40 back and the promotion never populated. So paid $40 for a one-year Plus membership.
How does bj's regular priced items compare to Costco also regular priced? If it matters I'm in nyc
In my experience, Costco is cheaper for most products, or the price will be the same but Costco's packages will be 20% bigger. But I do a deal like this one every year where I pay next to nothing for a BJ's membership. The advantages of BJ's are, in my opinion, longer opening hours, a better variety of products (for example, several different types of fish sticks, when Costco only carries one), and BJ's carries several different types of cheese sticks, lots of vegan products and meat substitutes (Lots of Beyond, Impossible, and other similar products).

Nice. My main interest in this deal is hoping that bj's is less crowded and less crazy than Costco
I went ahead and purchased it on the stacksocial. In my purchase history, I do now see an option 'Claim Code". Do I need to hit that button? Does it make the membership active right away if I hit the "Claim Code" button? I would want to activate my membership during summer instead of now. Please advise.
