Edit: Oops. I missed that it is pricing it this way because I already have MZ in my library.
Based on a cursory read of the Wikipedia [wikipedia.org] page, it looks like DQ-style battles are still the norm in RM VX, and it looks llike side-view battles don't come built-in until RPG Maker MV.
So, there ya go. I'm not gonna argue with free, but if you actually intend to try to make games with this rather than just fooling around with the GUI, you may wanna plop down the five bucks for RPG Maker MV instead and get side-view battles without having to do 30 hours of custom programming work.
