They are positioned one pointing 90° left, one 45° left, one directly facing seating on left. Center is directly front of bar. Right mirrors the left. One Atmos speaker on top each side.
Then the surrounds each have 2 front facing speakers and one Atmos speaker.
Positions are 1 facing left, one facing directly behind towards bar, 1 Atmos facing up. Right mirrors left.
One subwoofer.
There you have it folks, an 11.1.4 sound bar with 15 actual speakers in 3 enclosures.
Like I said, you just gotta be smarter than the sound bar.
And I wasn't defending anything, just explaining to your birdness how there are actually all 11.1.4 speakers in there when the bird himself said there were 3.
Understand?
And you have clearly never heard this sound bar, it is one of if not the top rated sound bar out there. Like it or not, some folks need or just want a sound bar for either space constraints or aesthetics.
Either way, there are definitely positively 100% indubitably 15 speakers and a sub packed in this neat little package. And anyone with more than a bird brain knows that 15 is 12 more than 3, which is what you initially claimed genius. Now you are trying to make it about whether it sounds good or not.
No one cares if you think it sounds good (spoiler: it does sound good).

Long story short, the Samsung sound bar has significantly tighter bass and less distortion on the low end. Vocals are likely about the same. This is all at normal listening levels. If you crank the shit up that 100w+ per channel setup w/ 1000W+ sub is going to shake the house and annoy your neighbors more, but who the fark does that? I'd be divorced pretty quick.
If you want to go out and spend 5 figures on an audio setup I'm sure you can beat this sound bar. However, the footprint would be much larger. Lowering into the 4 figures it gets more difficult. I'm sure there is something under 10k that could beat it but once again you are talking about comparing something designed to fill a room with ugly black boxes and all the wire routing fun. Instead of something that just sits under your tv. I think you would be very hard pressed to find anything under the MSRP of $2k that can beat it. Samsung has economies of scale as all these Q series sound bars share a lot of components. Other companies don't have the volume or shared parts to complete at this price point, or anywhere near it TBH. It's reviewed as the best speaker bar you can buy for a reason.
Initially, I had Q930B (9.1.4) which I snagged as an open box from Best Buy for only $460. I was very impressed and wondered how a soundbar can sound so much better. Then, everywhere I look, all the reviews kept saying that Q990C is one of the best soundbars, if not the best. When Sammy had the sale last year, I got Q990C for $600 OTD, after all the discounts. When I hooked it up, I was blown away! No other words to describe it. lol
I could ONLY increase the volume to around 40, once or twice, to test it and oh my gosh, it felt like the house was coming down. I don't have the courage to even hear how it sounds at 70+ and it can go all the way to 100. Sammy did a wonderful job and hats off to them for selling it at a steep discount!
Now, my Q930B is hooked to my Desktop and rocks as well even though it's an overkill. lol
On the SmartThings app, you can easily adjust Equalizer (Bass + Treble) + Channel Levels (Center + Side + Wide + Front Top + Rear + Rear Top + Rear Side) to your liking as it's much easier do it.
If you set the Rear Speaker Mode to Front, the satellites will pump a lot more and you will have an expansive soundstage, imo.
The first time they only sent a link that worked through the browser. I didn't pull the trigger.
Waited a week or two and tried again on the app. Got the discount to work through the app but it wouldn't show the extra $50 until I went back in forth in my cart a couple times from the browser to the app. $754 plus tax was the total. Thanks!
Coming from a yamaha/klipsch 5.1 setup, I wasn't expecting much. After some quick tweaking I realized I can not have this thing past 30 volume. It's loud af. Woofer doesn't compare to my klipsch at all (which the amp blew a few months ago), but I didn't expect it to. I tried to find a good atmos demo to listen to the initial setup but failed. I'll put a Blu-ray on when I get back home and see if I can find a good scene. Someone told me 1917 is a fantastic test. So far I'm impressed with the upper and mid clarity. I'll do some in depth testing later. I can not say for sure yet that I am happy with my purchase. Need some more time.
