I have one and it got a pink line down the middle of the screen. Apparently it's common and is covered under their warranty. Except I sent mine in and they refused to cover the repairs.

I would recommend avoiding this phone for that reason.

Yeah. It is the first Pixel with DeX-like HDMI output, so it's the right time to switch if you actually use the S10 to its fullest.

Probably a wash in terms of cellular reception, though an S22 or S23 would likely best it in that arena.

Tempting, but really want the bigger screen with the 8 pro. Seems to never go on sale though.

Yea I thought about pixel 7 pro, but I'm someone who keeps his phone for a very long time and that pixel 8 pro has 6-7 years of updates remaining meanwhile pixel 7 pro will stop updating pretty soon.

So 7 Pro 512GB not only has 4 times storage but also 12GB of memory vs 8GB for Pixel 8.

For running dual (game) app on the same screen, is Tensor G3 vs G2 more important than 12GB memory vs 8GB....?

Mine has the pink line, just happened last month after I'd had it about a year. Haven't tried to get it repaired yet. Must be extra-common since pink-line Pixel 8s are all over eBay.
Here is the repair program from google talking about it. https://support.google.com/pixelp...0Pixel%208.

I am considering this phone to replace a TCL 20 Pro 5g. The TCL has been a great phone for me. I don't game on my phone or use it for any high CPU demanding tasks. I have been waiting for TCL to release an update "flagship" to the 20 Pro but they haven't yet. I like that the 20 Pro has an SD card slot and IR sensor so I can use my phone as a remote. Almost all current model phones no longer have those features unfortunately.

So I have been considering trying a pixel. I would get the 256gb version since there is no SD card slot. I like the fact the Pixel 8 will have software updates for years to come since I keep my phone for a couple of years at least.

Should I jump on this deal or wait a bit longer? My 20 Pro is still working well but I have noticed more and more glitches. Mainly issues with Waze and wireless android auto but some other issues as well. Feels like it is about time for me to find a good replacement before the issues increase.

I currently have the Pixel 9 base model, phone is constantly hot, luckily I got mine through mint for only 300$ so it's fine. But I can't imagine how the older generations are, considering the latest pixels even have this stupid heating issue

Get it serviced/warrantyed?

I have a 9 Pro and no issues with overheating, nor does my wife have issues with her 8. There's bound to be dud units no matter what phone you buy.

Pixel 9 Pro is going to run cooler than base.

Pixel 8 base and Pixel 9 base try to address the lack of a compact phone, a hole made since the loss of Pixel 5/4/3 design.

Tensor is the culprit, but they did get closer with the 8/8a/9 base chassis.

Tradeoff however... It gets hot.

Before I picked up the Galaxy S25 the Pixel 8 was my go to small android choice. Very good choice and it's worth the $399 price but I suggest getting the 256gb version for $449.
