Because it's the year of the snake and Uranus is in retrograde, providing amd chips more horsepower and torque over intel chips. Let me know if you need further info. I've built a few pc's back when I was younger so I'm an expert.
Because AMD doesn't require you to replace your MB every other year, just 'cause you wanna replace your CPU.
Wish they would bring back the 425 7800X3D combo lol I know it will never happen again

Even if it doesn't, the REAL WORLD differences between CL30 and CL36 is something you can measure as a very minor difference in some benchmarks and not even all games. The difference will be so minor in real world use that you, as a human using the computer, won't discern any difference and when it comes to gaming can easily fall inside of +/- margins of error when trying to repeat tests. You can run DDR5 6000 with CL36 and never look back. It will NOT be leaving ANYTHING significant on the table even if you resort to benchmarks to prove it to yourself. But rest assured, there are those who can't sleep if they're leaving even 1%-2% performance on the table so, there's that. You can easily overpay for 'low latency' RAM but it's not a good return on investment.
When you run XMP or EXPO settings, can you still manually adjust timings?

The reviews on these CL36 sticks are saying it wont reach the advertised speed. Any thoughts?

Ended up buying the 9700x bundle. Putting it together later tonight-recycling my 3070 into the new build and selling my old i7-8700k.

I got the $500 9900x combo. Waiting on the air cooler via Amazon delivery - Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120SE. I'm going to build the new system without a GPU, just use the motherboard/cpu video for the foreseeable future.

Everything is pretty reasonable in price until the GPU search starts

I received a great response to this question earlier (or it might have been in another discussion about these same Microcenter bundles).
For me, the x870 mobo was not worth the extra $50 compared to the x670 mobo. But it depends on what particular mobo features you need, like which wifi version, number of lanes for m.2 or usb 4 or something like that but I don't remember specifics.

EDIT: see this discussion: https://slickdeals.net/f/18122755-micro-center-amd-ryzen-7-9700x-gigabyte-b650-aorus-elite-ax-ice-32gb-g-skill-flare-x5-free-store-pickup-449-99?p=175772215#post175772215

BTW the $500 combo is now sitting on my table, in the boxes, if you want me to look at anything for specific questions.

Also, Microcenter is also offering a separate $15 discount on the 2TB WD SN850X m.2 SSD, if you purchase it with the purchase of a motherboard. So that brings the price from $160 down to $145, which is somewhat competitive for a 2TB SSD with DRAM cache. I picked up one of those too when I purchased the combo.

Thanks for the answer! Yeah, it sounds like that is more niche. I didn't know if there were issues with the other board.

Do you have the component price breakdown? Thinking of swapping the 32gb for 64gb (assuming they still allow that) and I'd like to know the upcharge.

Here's my purchase - you'll see I also bought an SSD and got a free USB stick, so disregard those. Sorry for the formatting. I have no idea if Microcenter allows substitutions for RAM, other than the offer to spend another $10 to upgrade to some RGB sticks (Corsair I think?)

Laughable x3d bundle. Terrible cl36 ram and you're only saving $90. Get whatever chipset and form factor ASRock you want and cl30 ram and you'll still be better off for minimal to no cost difference.

Fwiw I got the 9900 work 670 bundle. In windows 11 it's been a piece of cake. In windows 8 it's almost working correctly 😅

Does anyone know if it's possible to swap the motherboard with a microATX board (i'm guessing it would have to be done in-store)? I only have mATX cases :/
I'm in the same boat. They have some MicroATX bundles, but they're not as nice as the ones I'm looking at. Did you get an answer to this question?
edit: I asked in their chat and they said that it's not possible to swap for a board that is not offered as an option for the bundle, so in my case I can't get the 9700x with a microATX board with bundle pricing.
