Pixel 10 is going to be awesome when they transition to a new tensor chip from TSMC. I'm waiting for that. Smilie
I wouldn't hold your breathe, the benchmarks there showing for the pixel are p10 show limited improvements and my pixel 9 pro xl already shows signs of slowness consistently compared to gfs s24 ultra, significantly slower all around, with new sd elite can't imagine its even close with those improvements, definitely gonna be lagging if any benchmarks are currently accurate

Existing customers: It seems like the $399 deal is better than porting out to another provider and then coming back. Am I missing something?
Depends if 6 months free "unlimited" 40 gigs is worth it to you or not.

The good deal was when they had the exact same phone for $299 a couple months ago.

The pixels are cheaper than the Samsungs they compete with, I would certainly expect them to perform slower in benchmarks. Each has their strengths, but if you're looking for the best processor, Samsung pretty much has the market cornered on that, and it comes at a premium.

Honestly I don't see the 9 Pro XL to be a good value since it is priced pretty close to (but not as much as) the S24 Ultra.

I agree. I like the idea of Pixel a lot but comparing my Pixel 9 and Samsung S25 I just got has been night and day in terms of sheer performance and juggling many tasks. In Texas heat, Pixel 9 still couldn't handle switching between both Google Maps and Spotify easily, and overheated. It's kind of a shame because I still prefer the overall Pixel experience to the Samsung. But the hardware still isn't up to snuff especially for the full fat price they charge IMO

Well I think that's the point, wise people do not pay full price for Pixels or anywhere near it.

I'm still going strong on my 4a 5G. Granted it is stuck on android 14, but still performs pretty well. From what I understand the 5 is when some of the issues started to happen with their new "in house" chipsets. However those have mostly been resolved, especially connectivity issues. Can't speak to heat issues, mine rarely has a problem unless in direct sun while I'm doing multiple things on it.

What does overheated mean? Are you saying that Maps and Spotify ran hot enough to shut down the phone, or is the phone running a little warm. There's a big difference. And you couldn't possibly have run both phones under the same conditions as the S25 hasn't been out long enough to see "Texas heat."

I am already on Mint. Can I port my number out of Mint and port it back in to qualify? If so, where should I port my number temporarily?

128GB on a phone without expandable storage on this day and age should be a crime.

It is no secret that T-Mobile owns Mint. Even before they bought them last year, it used the T-Mobile network. They are and have always been a T-Mobile MVNO.

There is no scam or fraud. They also purchased Metro years ago, same thing.

Imo you should ask someone in your area that has the service how it is. My area is on their map and I have very poor service.

For the most part you can ask anyone that has T-Mobile. While technically Mint is lower priority, the experience should be about the same.

They do have a 7 day trial available, that's the ideal way to go first, just use a temporary number that they give you to try it out.

Then you can order a deal like this under a new account (so you're considered a new customer) and port your number over if you decide you like it.

I rarely notice de-prioritization, or at least any slowness I've seen is in areas where I also saw with with "real" T-Mobile and also AT&T. I've had it 4 years now and about to renew for my 5th.

U.S. Mobile is another really good offering and you can now choose from Verizon (their preferred), T-Mobile, or AT&T. But they don't usually have any good phone deals. Their Verizon plans include mmWave and priority data. Their T-Mobile plan isn't clear if it includes UC or not, they sort of steer you away from using anything other than Verizon, so the T-Mobile is just advertised as "LTE" (which can mean 4G, 5G, or 5G Ultra Capacity).
