Direct Lit televisions don't use local dimming, which is a key factor in how Full Array TVs are able to produce deep, uniform blacks. Because of this, pictures produced on Direct Lit TVs tend to be lower quality, lacking in depth, and produce more gray tones—rather than deep, true blacks. And although Edge Lit TVs don't produce blacks on the same level as Full Array televisions, they do use local dimming technology to create deep, nuanced images that go far beyond what Direct Lit televisions are capable of.

That's kind of a crazy statement from LG...
Most Edge-Lit TVs don't use local dimming and are more low-end than most Direct-Lit TVs. Direct-Lit TVs do use local dimming (i.e, Sony X90L, Samsung Q80, etc.) and are much more effective than Edge-Lit TVs with local dimming. I believe the only Edge-Lit TV series, by anybody, that currently uses local dimming, is the 2024 LG QNED85T, and it's much less effective than the Sony and Samsung offerings mentioned above. Sounds like LG is just trying push the inferior tech of the QNED85T series TVs.

I'd spend this kind of money on a smaller TV with a better processor and image quality. Thinking of the LG C4 OLED and competitors. I own the C2 at 77 and it's light years faster response between clicks compared to the economy LG and TCL TVs i have. I just dislike my cheaper TVs cause they feel slow.

You didn't answer the question...

I have OLEDs throughout my house and have a 98". Sometimes the screen real estate dictates the 98" vs the 77".

what does slow matter if using the display mostly as monitor for a smart device attached to it? image quality, yes. UI responsiveness much less so (also its something very easy to fix).

Probably TCL QM7. Hisense still has QA issues with panels, that Samsung is less than ideal, and the LG is alright.

The TCL is real mini-led (and full array local dimming, FALD) so better than the others in contrast and handling of black scenes. As fyi, it is very heavy (as are all of these options) , so just review the weight capacity of your wall mount.
