Most Edge-Lit TVs don't use local dimming and are more low-end than most Direct-Lit TVs. Direct-Lit TVs do use local dimming (i.e, Sony X90L, Samsung Q80, etc.) and are much more effective than Edge-Lit TVs with local dimming. I believe the only Edge-Lit TV series, by anybody, that currently uses local dimming, is the 2024 LG QNED85T, and it's much less effective than the Sony and Samsung offerings mentioned above. Sounds like LG is just trying push the inferior tech of the QNED85T series TVs.

I have OLEDs throughout my house and have a 98". Sometimes the screen real estate dictates the 98" vs the 77".

The TCL is real mini-led (and full array local dimming, FALD) so better than the others in contrast and handling of black scenes. As fyi, it is very heavy (as are all of these options) , so just review the weight capacity of your wall mount.
