Last 3 times I travelled out of EWR, CLEAR took longer than TSA Pre. Unless it's free, I don't see the point of this, especially since they are always short staffed at EWR.
Sick bro
Clear is not worth it. TSA pre does the same thing but for cheaper plus its in far more locations and for $120 you get global entry which clear does not

It sounds like you don't understand what Clear actually is.
Signed up yesterday and I want to turn of auto renew but it says
"If you choose not to renew, you'll keep access to the CLEAR lane until 2/10/2025 and you won't be billed again."
This has to be one of the worst user experience ever. The website is a hot mess and somehow my account was in some sort of pending state because they couldn't charge my AMEX for a weird $50 transaction last fall which I never authorized anyway and even though it is a valid number/card. I ended up canceling the account to get it out of the pending state and now it seems like I have clear for another year and a half. I'd monitor your charges to your AMEX carefully as I don't think Clear is known to be as transparent on their charges as their name implies (pun intended)...
I already have clear by using my hilton aspire card last December and it seems I could not use the uber benefit. But can I purchase the clear membership for my wife now and get both 199 discount and uber?
You clearly do not travel enough then. I take 37 plus flights a ýear... clear is a massive timesaver...
Depends on your home airport really. If you live near a major hub then it's probably more useful than if you live near a spoke airport. All clear does is bypass the line to get past credentialing, whether Pre or not. It doesn't get you past the actual screening. So if your airports don't typically have long credential lines, clear lets you skip no one.
Also there have been times where I've seen the clear line longer than the TSA Pre line, even the line to get to one of their machines.

Clear is a benefit on the card and Clear is running a Uber promotion now

I have clear+pre and the clear line is usually faster, but depends greatly on the airport
There are many times clear didn't save me any time compared to regular pre
If your Amex pays for it, then sure why not, but I don't think it's worth paying for it out of your own pocket
Try JFK lots of people sign up for clear right there
