You need at least S23 series. S22 has poor battery and gets toasty under load. Performance isn't an issue with the S22. I had the S22U before upgrading 2 years ago. Cameras are fairly similar, with most of the ultras being garbage at capturing moving objects.

Software is meh. OneUI on Android 12, 13, 14 and 15 are pretty similar. Latest version doubles down on AI junk. Security patches are what to look out for.

Don't buy from this account, I bought one 2 days ago, and they sent a fake phone. The aspect ratio of the screen doesn't match the phone border. Avoid these scammers

Theme S22U is a great phone. I just upgraded to the S25U from the S22U and the only benefit I've seen outside of "ai" is the battery life on the s25u

The s22u has 10x zoom va 5x on s25u, Bluetooth spen that s25 doesn't, super slow mo that s25 doesn't, and a curved screen which I prefer.

The s25 has better specs but it's not noticeable improvements imo.

I've been an S22 Ultra user for the last few years now. The biggest advancement they made with the last two gens was the flat panel display. The curved edges of this phone is easily the most obnoxious thing.

I've never had an issue with battery life but I will say, it has degraded over the years (the same way you could expect of any daily driver device). From all of the reviews of Ultra models that came after the S22 series, the efficiency of the processors has helped with that a great deal. That being said, this thing still manages to impress iphone users I work with. They don't keep up with all of the latest and greatest devices on the market like I do so I take that with a grain of salt but it is also gratifying to feel like you are cutting edge when newer devices can't do half of what this can.

All of that being said, I had this phone for two weeks when I got out of my car and it got caught on my pocket when pulling out out, causing it to fall and have a small, barely noticeable crack on the top right edge of the screen. It was sickening when it happened. Despite having a tempered glass screen protector and premium Dbrand case, the point of contact was a tiny gap of screen between the protector and case. That tiny crack that is barely visible still haunts me to this day and cuts my trade in value with Samsung down to $300 instead of $600. If you really want to invest in the latest and greatest while not having to give up your current device, you can pay $300 for this phone and trade it in for the current Samsung value of $600 against the cost of a much better device. I consider that a pretty slick discount and would be tempted to pull the trigger for that exact purpose of I could know what the condition of the device was before buying. I don't see any information about whether the expected wear on the device could also mean minor cracks like on my device. If it was described as "excellent" or "like new", it would be a no brainer. Being described as "good" condition concerns me regarding screen burn in, battery health, and and minor damage to the front or back glass that could drastically decrease its trade in value.

Honestly, if you wanted a portable DeX device, this is a pretty awesome way to get it and another reason I'm considering placing an order. Also, if you don't know what Samsung DeX is and all of its many MANY useful/entertaining implementations, please do yourself a favor and look into it. Knowing about it and using it are two totally different things and I'm still blown away that I have family members who refuse to even try it. It is a ridiculously powerful way to expand the usefulness of Samsung devices that have it enabled and I'm a huge fan.

Hope this helps some folks

so the main negative about this is the bad battery life? Will the battery even last a day with regular usage?
Unless you are using it a ton with screen on yes. The only time I had any issues with battery life was at disney constantly using it for the app and snagging passes through genie.

Not sure where all the S22 hate comes from. Maybe early runs of the phone? Had no issues lasting all day and having plenty of juice for home.

This sounds like people just repeating things they heard online.

128gb will fill fast in this day, 256gb+ would be an adviseable min. Fairish deal if you need, but the + versions are pretty solid choices to consider.

I'll merely affirm what I've seen so many others have to say.

8 Gen 1 was a dog of a chip that ran hella hot 🔥🔥🔥. Probably best to avoid it, and either dial back to an S21U (888 wasn't great, but it wasn't the furnace the 8G1 was), or dial up to the outstanding S23U. The 8 Gen 2 is a fantastic chip, quick and cool. It goes toe to toe with the 8 Gen 3, due to the better thermal performance.

This latest 8 Gen 4 is another furnace, BTW, for those looking at S25's.

S23 Ultra is the one to get. And avoid cellfee, they will send poor quality phones as Good.

I'm still using an A71 5g from 2021 which still works okay for my purposes and still functions. Went from s8+ before that from 2017. Which only stopped using because i had issue receiving phone calls from or texts sometimes. Maybe I'll upgrade eventually.

Been using an s22u since it came out and haven't had battery life or heat issues. Still lasts all day for me, granted I'm not on my phone all day either. Perfectly good phone for light to medium use I'd say. I use the spen/phone as a stylus to draw diagrams for work too, one of the most useful things unique to the ultra series.

My S22U randomly stopped having phone connection one day. I looked it up and apparently there's a faulty antenna that Samsung doesn't cover. This is the first phone I've ever had that "broke." All my other phones are in perfect condition.
Performance is great when I had it. I could have probably kept using it for another year.

Funny thing about better specs is that if you don't see or feel the difference, then, as a friend of mine used to say (about stereo equipment) there is no difference. It's a numerical illusion.

First time buying a used phone, my iPhone 8 is dying this year. Anything to look out on used?

No. Especially when capturing moving objects like pets or kids
