We grabbed a bunch of the Harbor Freight Apache 5800's from the $49.99 deal last month (goes on sale for that a couple times a year it seems, or with coupon it's same price as this maybe half a dozen times a year). They are really durable.

We removed the foam and sold the foam sets on ebay each for half the cost of the case itself so basically net price was maybe $30 per 5800 case.

Oh wow. I've thrown out the foam a few times and never thought to sell it!

Is this compatible/stackable with the older Ridgid tool cases, or is this a completely different system?

This RIDGID Pro 28 in. Mobile Toolbox is made with durable, high-impact resin for long-lasting performance. The extra length provides the internal space to store 24 in. box and beam levels. This 28 in. toolbox works with the RIDGID Pro Tool Storage System 22 in. tool boxes and organizer to allow easy transportation of your tools to the job site.

Edit: it's compatible.

Thanks. I think the old system was called Pro Gear Gen 2. So, when I read this, it sounds like the new system just has two sizes. But you're probably correct.

I have both systems. The Rigid Pro 2.0 is backwards compatible but this unit and the bottom cart of either Rigid Pro system does not have the notches to latch the cart on another cart. But all the other pieces fit on either cart. This unit is 6 inches longer and has smaller wheels than the Rigid Pro carts. This tool box sits the long way which makes it more awkward to pull when you stack the larger tool box or got more than a couple smaller tool boxes attached to it.

Thx for the clarification.
