the Pioneer TV of today is made by TCL... the Chinese company that bought the name
Still, that minor observation aside, I think if you know what you're getting into and just wanted to use the TV like a "dumb" TV (because I don't think I'd personally set up a Xumo account) for a desktop setup with a console or PC I think the value here is probably incredible. I'd definitely power it on right away to see if you need to play the panel lottery in regards to backlight bleed and panel uniformity.
There was a decent review of this model on YouTube that is probably worth your time to watch before buying, but the reviewer seemed to believe that the TV was a good value even at $200, so at $120 it seems like a no brainer.

Anyway, in this case, the Pioneer is much like a TCL.But honestly, the company should have more biz sense and differentiate the two brands.
I'm glad you mentioned this. Makes me wonder if the TCL branded remotes would pair to this Pioneer. Gobs of used TCL remotes over on eBay. Would make sense to grab a spare one just in case and pair it up ahead of time if TV supports pairing to more than one remote.
Perhaps ....

$30 more...but if you are spending $20 on some type of stick....why not just go for a little better TV overall. Mind you Insignia is not a a Sony....but at least it's not a XMUO based TV.

Using the MADShi ChromaRes.png from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gam...?rdt
The text isn't the clearest, but at least chroma 444 is supported.
Perhaps ....
Still curious if the TCL or similar looking remotes would pair to this Pioneer TV set. My understanding is that these remotes are often pairing in a very similar fashion to bluetooth device pairing.

Currently have a support case into Pioneer so we'll see how that goes. I'm wondering if we should have just stuck with the Samsungs, as the 3 we've purchased are all over 5 years old and going strong.

I can't imagine how an extra $20 gets you closer to a more premium TV. Everything in the $300 and below range is mediocre. A $140 TV is not going to be better than a $120 TV. Also, Insignia is an in house Best Buy brand. Hardly any improvement over a "Pioneer"/Hisense/TCL TV. I wouldn't be surprised if Hisense or TCL produces Insignia TVs.
"It works great as a 4k PC monitor. This is what I learned during the set up.
- It has HDMI 2 ports. It can display 4K at 60Hz if you connect it to a source capable of that with an HDMI 2 cable or higher.
4k at 30 Hz is not enough when I use it as a PC monitor. Mouse pointer movement is choppy, and the clicks are inaccurate at 30 Hz. Please make sure you are getting 60Hz to get a good experience.
- I am using it with an HP PC with integrated Intel UHD Graphics and HDMI 1.4b/HDCP 2.2 port. I can get 4k @ 60Hz using HDMI 2.0 cable.
- Set the PC HDMI input to Game mode. PC mode is not available in the settings.
- You can set the Default input. When you turn the TV on, it will switch to that input after the home screen is displayed for a couple of seconds. Settings > Antenna and inputs > Default input > choose the HDMI port your PC uses.
- HDMI-CEC does not work with my PC. it does not turn on or off with my PC power and HDMI signal.
- If you are going to turn off the monitor by physical switch (on the left lower corner) than using the TV remote, turn off the TV before the PC. If you turn of the PC first, the TV gets confused for a few seconds from loss of input signal."
