With the M4s imminent, the M3s will be at this price. I would buy the M3 over the M2 for the ability to run more than one screen. I

These prices has been getting lower and lower. This was the Black Friday price. I am guessing the M4 version is imminent. I bought this after Christmas from quick ship. More than happy. If you need a good laptop. It's hard press to find better value than this.

Apple is still supporting Macs all the way back to 2017. Obviously most 2017 hardware is not going to run the latest OS but they don't abandon support. The lastest OS will run on 2018 Macbook pro, a 2020 MacBook air, a 2019 iMac or a 2017 iMac Pro.
You will still get all the bug fixes and patches even after your hardware cannot run the lastest OS.

Yes, the M3 Pro was nerfed vs the M2 Pro because Apple would rather upsell Pro users to the Max processor.

Base M3 was a solid upgrade from base M2 though, if I remember correctly.

For a person used pc all way, is air transition be smooth or not so good? Just for basic stuff, no gaming.

Depends on what you prioritize.

Apple charges $$$$ for RAM and storage space that are more plentiful at a fair price on PC.

The air is good if you just want something small with excellent battery life for basic stuff, and you can get an external SSD to make up for the lack of storage.

If you have other apple devices, especially iphone then yes.
Otherwise, pc laptops are priced competitively with these now. Laptops with Lunar lake cpu can match screen time, performance, and have better video games capability (low settings but playable, vs none at all with apple).

You won't be gaming so it won't be too big of an issue. Windows is great but is very resource intensive meanwhile OSX is extremely well optimized for Apple's supported hardware so it is great for basic browsing, streaming, and document/spreadsheet work. I have an M1 Air with 8 GB RAM and it is honestly fine for that, 16 GB M2 would be even better.
