They haven't had a "small" at my AMC since 2015 when we moved to this city.
By any chance are you located around Atlanta ?
I have never had a problem using them for movies and new releases

Know your theatre and do as much as you can in the app. It kinda ruins the mood (if ya know what I mean) when you have to pull out your printout/phone and explain to some 16 yr old kid what it is you're doing. Then he has to call his manager over to fix something...
Not saying it can't go smoothly. But when it doesn't, ugh.
This is true, but there would be a $4 convenience fee for doing it in the app.
At my local AMC, there aren't ticket booths anymore. It's 3 ticket machines and a dude at the gate checking phones to see that folks have already purchased tickets before letting them in. No ticket, no entry.
