Trade-in is anxiety inducing but at least with direct from Samsung refurb you're pretty confident it's in good shape

In three words Run Away! Samsung certified renewed are equal to a new phone. The quality is there. That's not the issue. New battery, screen modem ect. Nothing like a refurbished from other sellers. BUT not worth dealing with Samsung.com, and their Philippines call center. Scores of hours of tedium and wasted time. Don't fall for the scam where they ask you to checkout at a higher price with a promise to credit you back overcharge after it ships. Even written assurances mean nothing. Two months of hell doing a bank charge back.

Samsung factory certified with a new battery and one year warranty is much better than used or questionable refurb on ebay. Plus its eligible for $5/month cancel any time Samsung care unlimited drop, breakage, mechanical failure repair. Instant trade-in credit on $300 or $150 cracked ancient phone is way better for me than 24 monthly credits like Xfinity tried to scam me with on an S24 FE. S21 still has one year security updates, great beater phone.
