You can go thru Costco or Sams club if youre a member. Saves you the $35 fee and you can earn up to a $100 gift card for upgrading.

Seems like Simple Choice does qualify and gets you up to $500 trade in value.
Unfortunately t mobile charges $30 extra on phones (apple sells ip16 for 800 and t mobile for 830.
T mobile also asked for $35 connection charge.
This extra $65 surcharge makes it less appealing ☹️

I purchased my iPhone 16 online and picked it up at a tmobile store. I traded in my old iPhone 12 mini at the tmobile store on Sunday. Today, I got a box from T-mobile in the mail to ship the old phone. I got a receipt of my trade in person. I hope tmobile doesnt try to rip me off now.
They mail the box for the return but since you did it in store, you are fine. No need to worry, you have the receipt.

I don't care about $50 when I'm getting a good deal... Everyone has to make money - including T-Mobile. So I'm perfectly fine with paying the $50 sales tax knowing I'm getting a good deal.

I could easily skip the sales tax by driving right to New Jersey and getting a lower rate... I don't care enough because not everything is worth saving $ on.

You are the one going rampant because you are upset you have to pay sales tax on the full MSRP because you somehow want T-Mobile to pay it for you... you don't make sense. Enough of the ghetto responses...

No retailer pays sales tax on their own inventory! If that were true, no business anywhere would ever turn a profit. This is common sense dude, c'mon.

The sales tax burden would NOT fall to T Mobile if the deal were restructured to avoid taxation on the credit amount. It would be like buying the iPhone for $800 or whatever and only paying sales tax on the $800 - standard practice for every industry, in every state. If T Mobile made the effort to lower customers costs that way, and didn't charge $35 to connect the phone to your esim, among other things, this offer would be more attractive.

But to each their own.

If they don't show the Full MSRP on the EIP agreement you sign, then there's no way for them to hold you to owing that if you break the contract. Huge risk for them, that they are not going to take.

They can easily circumvent that with a good old fashioned early termination fee.

SWAC is technically Magenta Max for promos, and you should get $830 for upgrading. If you try adding a line instead, you will see $830 (which is the same as Magenta Max). The T-Mobile backend is wrong for upgrading SWAC. I chatted with T-Force, and they manually fixed my order for me and said they are fixing the T-Mobile backend soon. The more people complain, the faster they fix it.
I contacted T-Force and they said that Advantage Unlimited/SWAC lines were correctly coded at $500. There is no increase to $830 from what they can see to match Max Frown

How much of a bonus gift card did you get?

And did you get confirmation of your trade in bonus on there? Someone else posted that they had no indication that they were going to receive any trade in credit.

Okay guys, if you are going to buy a used phone and have the Simple Choice:

1) The cheapest is the Samsung S10. Very old phone with a high trade-in value. You should be able to get them for around $100.
2) The phone cannot have cracks on the screen, dead pixels, and previous water damage. If there are cracks on the back, they'll still take it. Same if there are any other cosmetic issues.
3) Obviously, they are not taking a phone that is blacklisted.... This is common sense.
4) Try to find a way to get the phone ASAP... the deal could end any time. There is a Reddit post that states that it could end somewhere around March but obviously it can change at a whim. It is one reason I hate these deals... just give a damn end date and stick to it. I would try and avoid buying it from Craigslist or FB marketplace. Lots of scumbags there who at any given time, could just claim the phone is stolen and you're on the hook once you ship the phone to T-Mobile and they find out it is listed as stolen.
5) Try to ship it from the store as you put the liability on them. Also, it's best to probably bring the phone with you to Costco if you're doing it through them so they can verify that everything is good-to-go. I've heard stories of people on the phone putting in the wrong IMEI and phone models. At least you can verify it in-store as they make you double-check before submitting.

It makes no sense to trade in an iPhone 12-14 for an iPhone 16... sell the phone yourself and pocket the difference. What T-Mobile will do with the phones is auction it off as a bundle to buyers who in return, put them up on eBay.. why lose out on hundreds of $? Even selling it to a random phone shop would net you more money.

iPhone 12 = $200
Samsung S10 = $100

Both have the same trade-in values.

It's only $100 but I've sold phones really quick with no hassle.

Ugh just found out my brothers phone has a small crack on the corner of the screen. Already have the 16 and transfered data over, just need to turn in the tradein device. So I figure my trade in wont work, do i need to trade in the same device i selected on my account a iphone 12 or can i buy something else form the list like a iphone 11 pro and trade that in instead for the same 500 credit i should get. And i believe i read earlier it doesn't have to be a tmobile/unlocked phone?

TIA
