You can go thru Costco or Sams club if youre a member. Saves you the $35 fee and you can earn up to a $100 gift card for upgrading.

Seems like Simple Choice does qualify and gets you up to $500 trade in value.
Unfortunately t mobile charges $30 extra on phones (apple sells ip16 for 800 and t mobile for 830.
T mobile also asked for $35 connection charge.
This extra $65 surcharge makes it less appealing ☹️

Free lines remain free lines on all plans except on Go5G Next, then it's a $10 a line surcharge.

indeo, were you hit by the price increase last year? If not, then your plan has price lock and you will lose price lock if you move to another plan. If you want to get an accurate estimate of your plan prices on MM or G5G+, ask on the T-mobile subreddit with the details on your current plan.

This iPhone promotion is an exception rather the rule; Go5G Plus has more consistent phones on T-mobile promotions (at least currently until a new plan replaces it).
I'm on one + promo plan… they did raise my price. I was pretty sure when I signed up for that plan they wouldn't be able to raise the rates. Am I wrong? I have an iPhone mini to trade. Is there any way that being on magenta Max would work out better for me? Or just take the $500? Also, did anyone figure out you can do this at the Apple Store in order to get the iPhone 16 unlocked?

Currently have 5 voice lines and 1 tablet line for around $170 after kickback and auto pay

I attached a screen shot of 3 terms for the trade in device
Hmm. I'll have to consider that. The issue is actually a chip in the glass near the rear camera. Far more than a scratch.

@ouloat - I had a $4 increase/line, net on bill was $8. Rest all my lines are free. So not sure if I have a price lock, probably not.

I am just trying to figure out which of the 2 plans MM or G5G+ is more customer friendly, in terms of future price hikes, fine print leading to changes, promos removed. In short, I dont want to be at T-Mo's mercy of changing things midway in my 24 month period.

I didnt quite follow the T-Mo subreddit page. Is there a link you can share?

If you got hit with the price increase last year, then your current plan doesn't have price lock and can be hit with price increases at any time. Same goes for any currently available plans like Gogo and Magenta; prices can increase at any time and since there are no contracts, you can leave at any time once you pay off your EIPs.

Here is a simple Magenta Max vs Go5G Plus calc [reddit.com] that a redditor made. There is a more complete calc that another redditor made, but I think someone broke the calculations so I didn't link it here.

Here is a search of the plan price estimates [reddit.com] that other people asked. You might be able to figure out your plan, or use their questions as a template for yours.

The question about whether or not to upgrade is a personal one. SC, One, Magenta, and Go5G share 90% of the same features, so don't expect a dramatic improvement of service moving to another plan. The biggest differentiator are the promotions offered, and only you can decide if it's worth it for the cost. The only thing to keep in mind is that you can move your plan at any time to Go5G, but you cannot move your plan back (without a huge fuss).

Heads up, seems like T-mobile's instore trade-in system is down [reddit.com] with no ETA for restoration of service. If you want to trade-in instore, best to monitor reddit for when the system come back up.

Genuinely curious, as a SDer, what is the pros for going with this deal and stay under contract vs buy a new iPhone 16 out of pocket and use MVNOs like US mobile and pay <$15/ month?

I've been wanting to upgrade my iPhone 12 Pro, but it seems that the monthly cost to shift under a contract will grow significantly.

if you don't have a grandfathered cheap plan from T-Mobile then buy from somewhere else.

Costco members and T-Mobile customers can take advantage of this deal without needing to visit a warehouse! I did it yesterday and got the activation fee waived plus a $100 gift card. All I needed was my Costco member ID and the trade-in IMEI to complete the offer.

Just call 833-428-1765

Also note that not all Costco stores are T-Mobile. They are carrier-specific now and some are AT&T. Ask me how I know 😖 Calling in is easier and you don't have to drive anywhere!

I'm on the Advantage Unlimited (Sprint SERO) and non-Premium $30/month, it's similar to the normal Go5G, so I'm not getting the max trade-in. I think the Advantage Premium $40/month is similar to the Go5G Plus would get the full trade-in credit.

For those that are in the same shoes, any idea how to add that Premium $10/month back to make it a tier up? The add-ons no longer shows the toggleable Premium addon when I check.

Apple does not have this promo. Apple has a similar promo for Magenta Max ONLY for $500 trade-in value.
