For a small solar system like this you probably don't want to use an inverter. The battery has a max 10A DC output which limits you to maybe ~100W inverter and idle losses will drain the battery fast.

Instead, you could use 12V DC lights connected to the battery or the controller load output.

Re: use cases - mostly outdoor

Important: both the controller and battery do not appear to have low temp cutoff protection. For year round use in all but the warmest climates, get the kit without the battery and get a battery with low temp cutoff protection.

- interior lighting, small fans, USB for a shed or low voltage landscape lighting
- front gate opener & ring camera
- gazebo fairy lights / device charging

I've been interested in a solar solution for lighting the inside of my shed. I'm not trying to be Colin Furze, but I just want to have some light so I can put away my tools at the end of the day.

Would a kit like this do that?

I use a simple ~$30 solar outdoor light inside my shed, just ran the cord through vent and mounted panel facing sky. It's motion sensitive and kicks on when I walk into the shed. Here's an example light https://a.co/d/gfkD0yl

Just use a high power marine or auto style 12 volt multi/charger and hook it up direct to the battery.
Or use the 12 volt port if using cig style. I have two different usb chargers on mine. That's not any big deal. If the solar can supply the wattage, it will. If not, it will take the extra out of the battery.

You don't have to use the USB port on the controller. My mppt controller doesn't have one/most more expensive controllers don't. They expect the owner to have their own custom design.

Seems like a waste of time. It's unless you want to recharge your electric razor or something. When I first thought about it, I was like. Oh gate controller. Cuz some truck ran into my gate, and i'm replacing all my stuff, but this is too small for that. By the way is quad is totaled. Yes, he lived, and yes, he was arrested for d.U.I

Yeah, I agree that this is a little on the underpowered side. The panel is ok but that battery is too small. I do charging after hours on mine and even a big power bank is going to put a drain on that batt. Would be way better if it was closer to 200-250 watt hours. This seems ok for phones.

Can I use this battery in a car? I got a project car/Sunday driver /classic car. It does have a slight draw I haven't found yet.I installed a battery kill switch yesterday and charged the battery but closer to spring time I will be replacing the battery. Would this set up work on a car?

You need to get a solar flood light. Put panel outside and light inside.

OK - this is no where near a car battery size! This is just 10Ah - Rough numbers: The solar panel is 25W which means it can charge at 2Ah in full sun which means it will be charged most days. You should find some DC lights and you will be fine. A 100W equivalent LED is around 12Watts which will run 8-10 hours on this setup without sun and double that with sun.
