I found a new 110 piece metropolis set for $20 at book-it! (Book / toy reseller) years ago. Been chasing that high ever since. My kids love it!

FWIW I'd be surprised if the micros don't go through some kind of redesign. We're knee deep in Magnatiles, but the micros we have are almost prohibitively weak and can be funky with the polarity, making them tougher to work together. There are probably tons of fun and creative ways to use them to supplement bigger builds, but my kid wants to use the little ones all together, which ends up awkward and sadly frustrating for her. Which stinks because she goes for them every time.

This is a sample size of one family of course.
