I'd think so, but might depend a little on the specific specs. of your old laptop. What I can tell from quick search is the HP 650 G2 were ~9 years old and using 6000 series Intel processors. The CPU in this is much better than a 9 year old laptop CPU generally.
However this laptop only has 8GB and your older laptop might have 16GB. Also the build quality or screen of this may be worse than your old laptop.
Crazy that 16gb ram was common in 9 year old laptops, with Dell & Apple is still selling 8gb laptops to this day.. at least this Dell is dirt cheap for a modern laptop. What's Apple's excuse?

Super cheap but very slow processor. Plus only 8gb.
Install a Linux distro. Problem solved.

Slow even for daily web surfing and movie watching uses?
Can't be slower than my 8th gen Intel laptop that's plenty good.

Don't mislead people when you have limited knowledge on the matter. The RAM is LPDDR5 and only comes with one slot which is soldered, and hence it is definitely not upgradeable: https://www.dell.com/support/manu...lang=en-us [dell.com]
It's great that you share your knowledge... but please don't beat people with it. There are also 3535 models that have two slots of removeable DDR RAM. And since the original post was yours, you might have included a tag next to the LPDDR5 bullet in your post that the RAM was not upgradeable so other, less knowledgeable folks would gain that understanding from the git-go.

Not only is it odd that they would use different mobo's in the same model line, but even odder still that the models with 8GB are DDR5 and ones with 16GB are DDR4.

Apple is selling 8GB models in their refurbished store and maybe through some retailers but actually in general they did finally bump up minimum configuration to 16GB last year. They took their sweet time though ...

It's illegal for The companies that put 8 GB ram in Windows 11.

Perhaps recommend the Dell 3520 over this one, when on sale. It has 2 DIMM slots and space for a 2.5" HD/SSD, and Intel processor and graphics.

Nice choice! I like Supreme Commander too, but it's more demanding.

Sing up with several emails. I did with 2 emails and received one after 3 days. Still waiting for the 2nd one and it's been over a week.

The RAM is removable. Definitely will upgrade to 16GB of RAM.

Which 16 GB of RAM did you upgrade to in the Dell Inspiron 3535 computer?

Yep... no wonder some folks get confused about what's what in a given model.
