It's funny how they note in one of their marketing pictures "Fast Data Transfer" - then it mentions it's USB 2.0 Not that I need the fast data transfers if I'm using it as a charging cable, but it would be nice to get both in one.

I think there might be some reason for this. If you search on Amazon, for example, you can find name brand cables with usb C to C connectors at 2.0 speed, but only weird off-brands listed with 3.1 speed. On the other hand, you can find good name brand USB A to C cables with 3.1 gen 2 speed.

I wonder if there is some extra licensing fee or something discouraging the manufacturers from selling C to C cables with 3.1 speed.

USB 3 is "superspeed", so "fast" means slow. gotta love marketing. USB 5 is gonna be called "warp speed" if they keep going like this...

It's just more expensive to make and the cable tends to be thicker and stiffer. Monoprice has some really thin usb c to c 3.1 cables and not that expensive (when on sale), but the quality still feels lower than let's say Anker.
