Powerstack is a higher current capable pouch type cell but it's still 20V. Flexvolt can be usable at 60V or 20V but still uses slightly lower current capable cylindrical cells. The fact that there are more cells in parallel in a Flexvolt pack when used at 20V does mean it has comparable high current capability like the Powerstack. Ultimately the advantage of Powerstack is that it's going to be much smaller and lighter than the Flexvolt packs.
I can't pull the trigger on DeWalt batteries from
Amazon. Too many reports of counterfeits.
I mean... I was working in my garage the other day and needed to set a tool on my car. I was glad that it not only wouldn't scratch the paint but also wouldn't slide due to the clean rubber on clean painted surface.
You can really justify nearly any change imaginable to be positive or negative. I'm def a fan of the non hard plastic bottoms!

Like the technology hate the rubber bottom on these batteries. If you are used to sliding your tools around, you can't with these. Why they decided to do this when every other Dewalt battery doesn't have this is beyond me. Another "brilliant engineering" idea.

What I love most about this battery is the rubber bottom lol so thank you engineers!

Judging from a number of responses to your post, I'd say you seemed to be in the minority...at least in here. Although, i do think to each their own (what works for you may not for others), but i tend to think of another example. Let's say on any particular drill, would you want the grip area to be all plastic or would you prefer to have the rubber pad inserts for grip? I guessed you can say you'd prefer all plastic to be able slide your hand onto the grip faster (and i could actually see that), however, i suspect most people would prefer the traction the rubber pads provide, along with the dampening effect from the vibration...not to mention the more premium feel. But again, to each their own...and that's perfectly okay too! It's your money and you should buy whatever works for you 👌

Was going to say, I like the rubber bottom so it stops sliding down on slightly angled surfaces

I also agreed. I didn't mention that it may provide "some" impact resistance in case of a dropage or just getting tossed around.

I really don't mind it when I'm frequently on top of a pitched metal roof with tools. Sliding is not the greatest there. XD
Anything above a 5/12 nobody is standing the tool upright, you either lay it flat or use a tether.

I'm not, it's a common gripe. This is the only battery in the Dewalt line that has a rubber bottom. So like I explained before, if you are used to sliding your tools around on a workbench or other hard surface like me, this is not a good option. The tools topple over time and again. I wanted to let people know this can be an issue (real world experience) but some get their panties in a knot over a criticism like they own the company. I've been a Dewalt guy for 20+ years with every tool you can imagine and this is one of my few gripes I have with one of their products. They should have the option to remove the rubber bottom but you can't, it's molded into the battery. If it works for you - great, enjoy your rubber bottom batteries!

I'm meaning how it's not just on the bottom but also wraps up around the edges--significantly reducing it's ability to slide, including when it's on its side. Very appreciated when on a corrugated roof atop a marina dockhouse. Less great if working with a body who asks you to slide the tool across the concrete while you're holding something up, I can imagine.

Just FYI, the smaller 1.7ah POWERSTACK and the 8ah POWERPACK both have rubber bottoms. With this, the newest 3.4ah(?) POWERSTACK and the 4ah POWERPACK are likely to have rubber bottoms as well... This may be the direction they're leaning for either the new batteries or higher end batteries.

Powerstack batteries are pouch cell and so far I haven't seen any counterfeit pouch cell dewalt batteries. So while I would not order any other batteries from Amazon, Powerstack should be safe. You can always check the serial number on the Dewalt site right after you receive the package.

Got mine delivered just now. Packaging is the same box I have seen them in inside the locked cage at Home Depot (smaller corrugated card board box with glued flaps). Everything looks correct, serial checks out on https://usnlookup.dewalt.com/
Battery has the rubber bottom and the new XR label on the side where "PowerStack" is smaller and under the XR logo, which is what I was expecting. Manufactured end of 05/2024.
That doesn't rule out other's concerns but just wanted to share my experience. Just need to charge it up and give it some tests.

This or tabless?

Depends exactly on your needs...
5ah PS: lighter weight & cheaper total (total $ spent)
8ah PP: larger capacity, more value ($/ah), & more current output (potentially more power for tool, depending on what you're using it with)

Nope. I got a power stack off Amazon, and the serial did not check out on the dewalt website. I contacted dewalt directly and they confirmed it was legit. Customer rep said their database can be incomplete.

And if we are voting, I much prefer the rubber bottom.
