They're partially correct, there's an easy fix. They're using a USB C to C cable on this, which causes that issue. With a USB A to C cable it doesn't have the issue. Sounds weird, but plenty of cheap devices aren't fully compatible with C to C cables. Still better than micro USB....

I have the Restnature version of this and it's been awesome for sleeping at hotels. Tiny size and the sound is loud so I don't even run it at full volume. I wish they'd sprung for a little bigger battery though, I can't get over 7 hours on the battery. If I could get 9, then I could just not leave it plugged in at night.
This is a cool little gadget. It's about the size of a k-cup!

It's interesting what a reviewer said about charging the device while using it:
"When the USB cord is connected the machine will not allow you to turn on device. But if you turn it on and then plug it in it seems to work.- It can't be used while plugged in. You have to charge it and use it unplugged. (Although I did see another reviewer claim they found a work around for this)."

I'm unsure how that works, but I'd definitely expect to be able to use it while plugged in. If this reviewer's assessment is accurate, you'd have to unplug it, turn it on, then plug it in again. This may be cumbersome if used dailly (or nightly).
yeah, but then you need to leave your phone running all night.

also this is commonly used in children's rooms. if you use your phone, then your phone is tied up in the kids room all night long

I couldn't find a clip coupon on the product page only buy one get one free offers?
Make sure you've selected the "cream" color. That's the only one that has the $7 off coupon (at least for me).

I checked the other color options, and some colors have the buy one get one free, and other colors don't have any discount at all.

Could one just use an app on your phone?
Yes. But if all of us did that, SD staff don't make any money.

Been doing this for at least a decade during work breaks to take a nap in my car.

Not sure what the quality of these are sound wise but any Alexa device is capable (and I am sure sounds better) of producing any of these sounds and probably a lot more.

Just tell Alexa to play brown noise, white noise or whatever you want. Why would you need an extra device?
I've come to find that Alexa eventually starts changing its responses to requests for ambient noise, brown noise, white noise, rain, etc. by suggesting different skills and asking you to add a subscription

it's really annoying. sometimes it will play a new playlist with totally unrelated sounds or music as well.

I've had to change my verbal requests at least 10 times in the past 3 months because of this

I also use Marpac Dohms, and the reason is because the white noise it produces is closer to a fan which is what I prefer. I really dislike digital white noise.

Not all white noise is the same!
Oh, I agree. There's lots of different things one can use for sleeping noise like cell phones and a lot of the newer machines but they all use digital sound generated from a speaker and unless they've changed, I found that noise to be distracting rather than relaxing.

I'll see how this thing works out and maybe end up giving it away.

Oddly enough it finally worked for me today when the $7 off coupon mysteriously appeared. On checkout the extra $3.99 off also appeared since I had previously applied this in my previous attempts to purchase this.

I already have a similar small noise generator, the LectroFan Micro, which I have thankfully used for many years while traveling. But it is getting long in the tooth and quite sticky (known as plasticization). The current model, LectroFan Micro2, is priced at $40. So hopefully this will be a nice replacement.

While it depends on the individual (as some can sleep through a gunfight), I have found this indispensable when visiting a noisy city or just sleeping away from home. They are also useful for small kids who have trouble sleeping or if you have a sleeping companion who is a loud snorer.

I find items like this fascinating. We all carry cellphones with us all the time. Your cellphone already does everything this gadget does. There is literally no use for an item like this. Even in this thread, no one has mentioned a single reason to use this over a cellphone, which you already have with you.
There are literally several clear explanations of this, you're just dismissing them. So it's not that there is no reason, there's no reason YOU PERSONALLY AGREE with. That's something nobody cares about buddy!
