Thanks for the feedback on it - shared it because it did really well when it was previously $2 less.

That said, one of the most powerful tools on SD is that all deals are voted on by the community. Please vote on it however you feel

I don't even get two-day shipping from Amazon anymore. They say it'll happen in two days and then deliver in 4-5. Only when I absolutely need something in the two day window and complain to them do they actually deliver it in two days.

DRAMless if that matters for your needs.

Heard those drives have problems, Google it. Shame as the P31's were great drives.

That's why you don't listen to the "Keep holding! Prices are only going to go down!" crowd. A lot of people think they can see the future.

Spinning hard drives with platters? Chia crypto along with fewer big brands in the space these days. Western Digital and Seagate are basically all we have now as big reputable brands. After that Toshiba is still kicking around and then the rest are sort of white box no name drives I wouldn't trust. Less competition tends to lead to higher prices and less innovation. Flooding of the plants doesn't help either. The big reason is probably developing markets simply buying more increasing the global demand thus increasing the price.
Neither Chia nor the small number of manufacturers are things that happened in the last 2 years. The big Thailand flood was over a decade ago. It's only the last couple months that prices really started to spike.

SSDs? The world simply doesn't have enough fabs. During COVID shutdowns and slowed economies, SSD demand somehow plummeted. The result was companies lowering their prices over and over to encourage sales. Demand is back up now, so prices follow.
Add inflation, currency devaluation, and tariffs on top of that, and don't expect prices to be going back down again any time quickly unless someone develops cheaper layering technology or the fab production increases substantially enough to lower wafer prices.
It doesn't seem like fabs are the issue. In fact, due to soft demand, the major players have cut back NAND production. It happened around 2023, and it's happening again now. Current prices would probably be higher had YMTC not flooded the market. They're a Chinese manufacturer that's relatively new to the US market. Supposedly, some of their NAND (such as the 232-layer TLC) is pretty good.

I read an interesting comment questioning if some NAND producers could be in trouble. Companies like Kioxia and SanDisk (I think) don't have as many other products to fall back on like Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix (which also make DRAM, among other things). I hope they don't get driven out of business or forced to merge.

I wouldn't be surprised if SSD prices begin to rise again, in the not too distant future.

Your probably to young to remember the 90s when memory and data hard drives were unaffordable do to some manufacturing issues and then the price fixing made it worse. The CPA was late to the game and it just made it worse.
