Every fridge or freezer uses a compressor, outside of those tiny 6 can peltier "refrigerators."

The main difference between an undercounter fridge and a typical mini fridge is how the heat is rejected. A typical mini fridge has the condenser coil built into the outer shell of the fridge. It uses the metal shell to dissipate heat on each side. If you stick this type under a counter as a built in fridge, it will quickly overheat. I actually have a cheap glass door mini fridge built in to some cabinets/counters. I put a 120mm fan on the rear, blowing across each side of the fridge towards the front. I have the fans tied into the relay for the compressor so they kick on when the compressor is running. It's worked that way for about 9 years so far. Most people wouldn't want to do all this crap though. I've considered replacing it with an actual undercounter fridge.

Undercounter fridges reject heat through the front kick plate area at the bottom.

Why Deco at this price vs 100 cheap fridges?
Many reasons.
1. Low quality
2. The freezer become useless in less than six months because of condensation getting in freezing up. The cooling performance will also drop because of the ice buildup.
3. You have to defrost, which is at least $20 of work in my opinion. We will do this many times and regret. (please do not argue if an hour or free time is worth $20. It's subjective. Just replace 20 with some other number that you're comfortable with)
4. If power goes out, the freezer is going to melt, and you will have a ton of water on the floor. I had this many times with another brand fridge.
5.Looks / Quality

Deco has a great built quality . I rather pay more but enjoy the quality/looks for a years to come.

The volumes are similar if you exclude the freezer.
Update : I have just received the fridge. This is the fastest large item I have purchased that came this fast.
The noise level of fridge as of now 5 AM in the morning as I wake up is between 36 to 38 DBI.
The build quality is really good .

From what I've noticed and researched with mini fridges, they can only cool down to 37 or 38 degrees Fahrenheit. This fridge can drop down to 32 degrees controlled temperature, if you like your drinks extra chilly this would be a good buy.

Not disagreeing with anything you've said above, only adding context that I found important when searching for a mini fridge.

How is defrosting $20 worth of work? Defrosting your main home fridge/freezer would be annoying because it's never really empty, but it's easy to defrost a minifridge. And how long does power have to go out for a fridge to end up with a giant pool of water?

That how much value my free time . Of course if I had no job, it would have zero dollar an hour.
I will use this fridge in the bedroom, so any water will leak will ruin my floor. And again if I had cheap vinyl floors, it would not have been an issue .
In summary.
The value of a better quality product product is subjective . If I were a college student I'd go with a 80 dollar fridge .

How much do you value your time? Defrosting is as easy as unplugging the thing and opening the door. I defrosted a larger fridge at my rental property a couple weekends ago. It took 24 hours, but about 5-10 minutes of "work."

Mine arrived with the box looking ok, but one of the feet was broken, frame where it attached bent, and all the glass shelves were thrown about inside. Glass intact but white plastic ends on the shelves were all broken.

Lets see what Buydig wants to do about it.

I bought this fridge on the last deal and it's been solid for me. I have it under counter in my backyard and it hasn't given me any issues. Keeps my drinks cold and has plenty of storage space.

How long to clean up all the water on the floor after?

The OP cooling is by a compressor which is found in your standard fridge which allows better cooling.
I think most dorm room compact fridges are cooled mainly by the freezer.
This one has a grate where it breathes out of the front of the unit. The cheaper one has the guts in the back. If you put it in an application that is boxed in, such as under the counter. This one will not overheat because it can stay cool breathing from the bottom and out of the front.

I bought one and it just arrived. One glass shelf was shattered and some of the plastic parts are damaged. Now I have to figure out how to do a return.

They offered $70 back if i wanted to keep it. So slightly broken minifridge for $150 ish i guess.

That said as a product review the fridge is nice but it's compressor operates in the edge of the high frequency hearing range, so people like myself with good high frequency hearing can hear it running a room away under the right conditions. Still gonna keep it but definitely a drawback.

This size of fridge is meant to fit into a space formerly occupied by a trash compactor.
