Speaking of storage, since you mentioned 512GB versus the 1TB in this post. I thought I'd reiterate that these machines don't support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2!!
The Crucial X9 Pro and X10 Pro help to illustrate this. The X9 Pro supports "up to 1,050MB/s", while the X10 Pro supports "up to 2,100MB/s". On the MacBook Pro in this post (and others), you'll hardly see ANY difference between the two drives. Plugged in to a Windows desktop is when I see the X10 Pro reaching ~2,000MB/sec.
If you want to see speeds higher than ~1,000MB/s, you'll want to buy a Thunderbolt external SSD. Something like the SanDisk Pro-G40 (TB3). OR, buy a Thunderbolt NVMe enclosure (with NVMe drive, or supply your own). Something like the OWC Express 1M2.

Thank you for pointing this out! Repped. It's an excellent point, yeah. It's something that I noticed last year when deciding whether to buy. Thankfully the M3 Max has a memory bandwidth of 300MB/sec (at least in my case with the 14-core). The 16 core has 400GB/s . Not sure if that 50MB/s difference would be "make or break" for many, but still something good to be aware of.
Excellent point, yeah. Agreed.
Probably application load times as well, and application responsiveness. But probably most noticeable for things like LLMs, as you said. Video editing perhaps as well. Anything where memory is being accessed really frequently.
It doesn't seem to say on the listing. Good price tho. Best MacBook for dev work.

My M1 Pro will be four years old at that point which feels like a minimum upgrade time.
