I've been on the fence about this and ended up buying a 2nd Z7ii. After viewing multiple YouTube videos, I realized that there is absolutely no difference in final image. I don't shoot fast moving or spray and prey. The $1500 difference just can't be justified by me. Maybe down the line I may look again when the Z7iii or used prices come down on Z8. For the Z8 price I could pick up a nice lens with the Z7ii for the same price.

If final image is your primary concern, you'll probably never have a reason to upgrade again. Regardless of what pixel-peepers in a lab might suggest, sensors hit the point of diminishing returns over a decade ago. I can't discern a difference, IQ-wise, between my Nikon D810 and the current gen.

It's all about the rest of the feature set. Whether or not that justifies the upgrade is obviously YMMV.

In any case, I wouldn't call this a hot deal. It's the current discount we've been seeing on this camera every so often. Hopefully there's a bigger drop coming, as the Z6III puts pressure on it from the lower end.

Z8 is really a sports or wildlife body, that's why the premium. So for you probably not worth it.
