I absolutely love my Peregrine 13s (in fact, I bought 5 pair when last year's markdowns came because for some reason these companies redesign their shoes annually). Thankfully they didn't change too much with the 14 (thicker tongue).
And yes, no wides on sale ever at REI 🫤

Same here. I bought some Saucony Xodus on sale as well that are pretty much identical to the Peregrine.

Im still bummed I didnt jump on this right away for $35 https://slickdeals.net/f/18065773-saucony-x-public-lands-ride-17-running-shoes-womens-35-more-9-s-h?src=SiteSearch

Absolutely solid trail running shoe for anyone is unaware. Will last many miles and is a good enough shoe to wear for a training 10 miler or up to a 100k event. I've used so many Peregrines in my life and loved every single one of them. Be sure to half a size up if you're going to run more than 30 miles in one stint. If you want something that's 100 miler worthy, but like this shoe, go with the Xodus.

Each year seems to just slightly improve on the last, but not so much that someone who likes the last iteration will be upset.

These are a different shoe than Hoka, but no less quality IMO. In my experience, they last a bit longer than Hokas. A little more of a speed shoe and slightly less stable than the Hoka Speedgoat. And, they go on good sales when Hokas barely get discounted.

(My experience: I run 30-40 trail miles a week and I've completed a few 50k events, a 100k and a 100 miler. I also run the Grand Canyon corridor at least 1x a year)

I have the 13s and have put over 100 miles on them. I use them anywhere I'm going to be off road or if there is snow and ice. They have never let me down. They are a fast shoe and comfortable. I would do a half size up.

Will the peregrines 14 be fine for regular walking/running on pavement? I was going to return my 14s as I barely do any trail runs

You probably could but you'd have a much better experience with running shoes designed for the road. These shoes have extra plating at the soles to keep it stiffer over rough terrain.

I wore a pair of Peregrines on my hike to Maccu Picchu. Stable enough for me to handle inclines, declines, and strange slopes, but comfortable enough to wear for hours on end. Traction was amazing. They definitely felt a little rigid when walking around town on the sidewalks.

Too bad not GTX. This is or should be regular price. None of my saucony lasted one season. Not everyday heavy use. Cheap asics last a few seasons. I stopped buying Saucony because crappy quality. Many bad reviews. Same ol' saucony, same garbage quality.

You're likely mistaking Saucony's cheaper models for their more quality ones. I too lament that Saucony went "discount" and started offering shoes that were low quality and cheap msrp. But that's not peregrines or Xodus or Endorphins (for some examples). I've purchased 10+ pairs and had amazing life out of each of them.

I would not recommend these for pavement. Bad for your joints. These are made for uneven ground.
