Cutting carpeting with this will be a massive pain. There are other styles of blades that are made specifically for cutting carpeting

You are correct; however, you also have a place for these regular utility knives for all other things!!!

Technically you can cut the carpet or carpet like things with it…I did use it to cut my carpet as we only had one carpet knife while doing a remodel.

You want a blade style like the one I linked. Any knife that can take this blade will work much, much better than this deals version. They all cost roughly the same unless you get a heavy duty version.
