Xfinity Mobile has for its Rewards Members for a limited time:
Bring any owned unlocked smart phone to Xfinity and get it locked for $650 payable in 24 monthly installments. Plus port out privilege withheld at no extra charge. No restriction on what you bring, nothing given in return.

I signed up and had my S10+ 128 GB phone converted from BYOD customer-owned unlocked to Xfinity-owned for just $650 payable in 24 monthly installments. There was no extra charge to add port-out blocking on my number which is automatic.

Instructions:
- Select a new S24 FE handset. Select "trade-in". No worries, there is no actual "trade-in".
- Call the Philippines call center only they can complete your order
- Agree to pay full list price, currently $650 for the S24 FE
- Pay $88 for taxes up front
- Refuse delivery otherwise you will be converted to a 24 month contractual obligation on the plus plan for $5 or $10 more per month.

How it works:
Get a very generous "trade-in" of an old Galaxay S10 or similar, $600 towards the $650 purchase price for a new S24 FE. note- no cash value will actually be given for your traded in phone, Instead you may receive 24 monthly bill credits offset by 24 monthly bill charges installment payments.

Refuse delivery on the phone. Important! print out proof of non-delivery which shows the S24 FE returned to the warehouse.

Call your bank to cancel automatic payments and to perform a charge back of the $88 collected at the time of order as down payment.

In three days you should see in your account that the status of your owned phone under devices is now changed to Xfinity-owned with a past-due balance of $650 . YMMV on the ability to use installment payments. Installment option may be cancelled by the charge-back.

Your line should now be locked, safe from port-out pin which can not be obtained by anyone prior to settlement of the $650 past-due amount now due on your previously owned phone.

Your account should also show under your devices the S24 FE even though it was never received or activated, Total balance due of $650 +$650 = $1,300 plus tax. Your monthly service fee should now reflect an increase of $5 or $10 for Plus Service Upgrade. If not then call customer service to tell them that Xfinity Rewards has not yet been applied.

Feb 26 edit update: File an online FCC complaint and one with your state regulator. That got quick results. My BYOD phone was unlocked the next day and $1,300 in fraudulent charges were reversed. Don't waste your time talking to Xfinity and their hours and hours of time suck. Their game is to lead you on with a
'corporate escalation". After two weeks I learned to save my breath and hang up on them. Just say no to Xfinity Rewards. Save yourself the grief.
----

Go settings > Connections. If your Xfinity Rewards has been successfully applied then "Mobile Networks" will now be grayed out on your phone indicating that Xfinity has sim-locked your previously owned phone.

If you are unsure why you have received this reward then you may dial 611 for a lengthy and entertaining explanation on how Xfinity obtained title to your phone to safeguard it and why your balance increased by $1300.

You may request that the installment plan be reinstated if you can't pay the $1,300 in full and your line is at risk for suspension.

See attached snapshot of my devices in Xfinity account. Xfinity has grabbed the BYOD phone , locked it with 23 payments to go. The never delivered never-received S24 FE phone is also added to to account by Xfinity The Xfinity Reward is a balance-due increase of $650+$650=$1300 which is "past due"

Why would I ever take an unlocked phone and relock it? The beauty of an unlocked phone is so I can tell folks to kick rocks.

No worries. The locking is an automatic Xfinity Reward. Also shown is the Xfinity Reward of having the S24 FE added to "my devices" with $27 monthly payments even though it was never received.

Look carefully. Two phones pictured in "my devices" each having 23 payments due totalling $1300 as payoff amount. Balance due was zero before Xfinity applied its "reward".

Sorry, I can't show you the ridiculous dialogue offered by overseas Xfinity agents, multiple hours long calls over several days wherein they attempt to explain how Xfinity deserves title to your BYOD phone in spite of having given nothing of value in return for it.

Proof of the refused pkg containing the S24 FE returned to Xfinity and who signed for it at their warehouse makes no difference. Agent X just ignores the proof lying that it was never received.

Xfinity has the account locked down now. I can't port out or move to a cheaper plan. Two different U.S. based a/c executives issued case numbers, promised credits but failed to keep their word. My bank cancelled the card to prevent further fraudulent billing activity by Xfinity,

... What is this reply?

This sounds like a big hassle tbh. People pay extra for unlocked phones.

seems more like a PSA on Reddit than a hot deal on SD.

also Xfinity is notorious about collecting past due even 100 bucks, they take it very seriously.

Mint Mobile is only $300 for an entire year for unlimited everything. Heck the new iPhone 16e is $360 with total or $365 with boost mobile (better deals than Xfinity IMHO)

Mint Mobil uses T-mob towers. Useless where only Verizon towers exist like here. Whoddathunk that Xfinity is planning to remotely lock your phone? Is that even legal? What do they mean by "re-lock"? I thought she bought it new as unlocked. Still this is perfect for the person who needs a $1,300 expense for tax write-off but doesn't want to have the crappy phone laying around. If the phantom S24 is on the account isn't that good for a $30-40 expense write off every month?

Surprised that this kind of crap is allowed to be posted on slickdeals. OP should be banned from posting deals due to this 💩 post.

A screenshot is posted of the deal as you see it in "my devices". Two extra $28 payments every month for 24 months. Perfect for those who need a tax write off. Otherwise consider it a PSA like SavingLsArt said. Would you prefer to discover Xfinity Mobile Rewards on your own after the fact? There is a trend here being repeated by other carriers.

edit: certain terms of the deal are not posted by the carrier. For example, refusing to accept delivery in the past would cancel the order. This is no longer true. The phantom phone is still added to the account generating fees for the carrier for 24 months. Also new is irreversible transfer of title.. Once you click on "Trade-in" your phone become the property of Xfinity whether you send it back or not. $28 payments become due immediately. These may continue even if you do send it in just as they are continuing for the phantom S24.

The "deal" for a free or nearly free S24 FE from Xfinity is a scam which can easily cost you the loss of your current phone along with being mired in hours and hours in a billing dispute with idiots in foreign call center. Your credit rating could be damaged as well.

Xfinity fails to warn subscribers that Xfinity will remotely lock their fully owned BYOD on their theory that once you click a box for trade-in they own your phone even if you subsequently cancel your order and have received nothing of value for you "trade-in".

Log in to your account and find under "my devices" that Xfinity has confiscated your BYOD phone holding it hostage demanding payment of $650 for a phone which it never supplied but claims to own merely because the subscriber clicked a box for a trade in offer. Find there also a demand for another $650 for a phone never delivered to you and for which you have UPS Proof of Refused Delivery and proof that Xfinity received it back and signed for it.

File a complaint of fraud with PUC and FCC. Escalation to their corporate on Feb 14th was a waste of time with promises not kept. Hard to imagine just how crooked Comcast Xfinity Mobile is.
