Just so everyone knows, "Michael Kelly" is the American-sounding name that SamAsh chose to use for cheaply-made Chinese instruments in the same exact way as Thomann of Germany uses "Harley Benton" and Guitar Center uses "Mitchell." Not a single Michael Kelly instrument has ever been worth $1k, regardless of the list price. Also note that SamAsh went out of business last year and that some dude bought the name and is running it as an ecommerce site. This is not the good old Sam Ash you may remember. A Squier Classic Vibe or Paranormal Tele is a MUCH better instrument with a meaningful warranty from Fender and a large amount of parts that fit them with no issues. And they cost less than this too. And they have better resale value.

This is no bargain.

Wow, a blast from the past. It looks like Sam Ash is now owned by a Mexican music distributor: https://www.samash.com/help-center/about-us

A guitar shop local to me (that has since closed down) carried Michael Kelly guitars and they always looked good and felt and played nicely. They're definitely not just a Sam Ash house brand. Very decent specs for the price, including USA Duncan pickups and a compound radius neck.

Michael Kelly -is- a Sam Ash house brand, and the guitars are indeed made in China. I wouldn't say that puts them below the level of a Squier though. You're not going to get a compound radius neck or Duncan pickups in a Squier. I imagine the pickups alone will give this a better resale value relative to a Squier, but who knows, consumers are irrational.

I just bought this and it is made in Indonesia. That said, it is a little heavy, but it is fantastic quality and sounds amazing.
