MD med student here. We recommend Omron to our patients in our outpatient clinic for home checking.

Validate is a program ran by the American Medical Association. These Omron cuffs are certified since their readings are pretty accurate compared to the machines we use in the office. Here is the whole list. We generally recommend our patients to buy from this list.

It's not uncommon for pressure to be higher at a Doctor's office.

I got this for my wife and it was extremely uncomfortable, borderline painful, to use. The cuff has a hard band inside. Returned and went with a different validated brand.

Remember, sit on a chair, fleet flat, arm on table relatively level with heart. Sit for 5 mins to normalize bp then measure.

I have a different version of Omron. I don't like their app, it doesn't sync well.

I get almost the same reading for many months, I dont use it anymore.

I test at the doctor's office and almost the same reading as the Omron. (This is how you can test).

It is called White Coat Syndrome back when I was in pharmacy school.

For those wanting an all-in-one cuff with wireless app connectivity and easy on off - then I highly recommend the Omron Evolv for ~ $10 more. Seamless use both for checking BP and data transfer.

I have this one as well and agree, it's great, accurate and a small footprint. I have it connected to the Samsung health app to for data storage.

This. It's amazing how many nurses simply don't follow the basics when measuring blood pressure. I would think it is one of the 1st things nurses are trained in. I find it more with some of the specialists I go to vs my primary care physician.

A previous deal at Walgreens with ymmv coupon had this at $50.99 - that must be what they are referring to. This is a solid price here.

In addition to being more accurate than many non-Omron digital BPs, it's compatible with Samsung Health, Google Fit, Apple Health, and the Kardia ECG apps. (plus a few more). However... the Evolv isn't quite as accurate as the Series 10, particularly when battery power is low. It's also more finicky on position and movement detection.

Edit: folks who have a Galaxy Watch (7 and Ultra for sure, I think 6, not sure about the rest) can take BP from their watch. On the 7 it's disabled by default but you can sideload the ability back in. You still have to re-calibrate it every 30 days by using another BP device for comparison. It's surprisingly accurate though.

I have been using a BP7350 for some time. It seems accurate, but I have not calibrated it at the doctor's office. The bluetooth which connects the Omron app has worked well for me recording BP, weight, etc.

I have been looking for a smartwatch that you can wear to monitor your BP. There are a few that will do it (e.g. Samsung), but the reviews I've read is that there are none that do it accurately. Anyone using a watch that records BP accurately?

Lol, this is a post science society, now. Studies! Johns Hopkins, what do they know?

But seriously, yes, it does seem to happen all wrong. They get my bp right after they ask me about my alcohol usage, drug usage, allergies, am I still not getting sleep; yeah I can imagine it is going to be elevated.

This device is on the VDL which means it is an approved blood pressure monitor by the Research Center at the University of Chicago and the Independent Review Commitee to provide accurate measurement. I recommend to get any blood pressure monitor that is on the VDL. You don't need to spend a lot of money for an accurate one. Just avoid non-approved devices as they are not checked for accuracy. I had a non-approved device with OLED and USB C power but it was providing measurements not even close to what I was getting at the doctors or from my new Omron.

Excellent BP monitor. Anyone that says it's inaccurate is using it wrong. we had a high BP medical emergency in our family and the readings were verified against manual doctor measurements as well as the hospital cuff and they were within a couple points systolic and diastolic— basically within error and repeatability. I paid nearly double, this is a great deal.
