Just FYI, if you give these to kids, they can seriously burn themselves if they touch the lens. I have two of these and they get extremely hot at the magnifying lens end and I learned the hard way. And don't set them down turned on face down. They will burn whatever you put it on. (again, learned that the hard way).
I am wondering if this one also can take 18650 recharable battery instead of 3 AAA battery.
I have a few 18650 batteries. The description does mention that it can take " a single rechargeable battery", but didn't mention the size .
Thanks for the warning!

In for this deal - you cannot have enough flashlights! I love the fact that they come with lanyards as I usually hang flashlights in areas I am usually needing them in, like the basement, attic, garage, office, etc. I will also use neodymium magnets to attach them to, for example, a metal lamp column in my office so they're always where I need them. I have a split level house with 5 levels so having multiple cheap flashlights stored in different areas eliminates the time spent in remembering where I last left a flashlight and trudging up and down the stairs to fetch it.

Yeah, I think so. There was a pack of 6 that looked the same for $20 after coupon, so this looks somewhat better.

The descriptions of both deals suggest that I can use a common rechargeable lithium battery instead of the 3 AAA cells, but neither state if I can recharge the battery in the flashlight or if I have to use an external charger. I think I might prefer buying lithium cells for these.

I doubt you can recharge in the flashlight, this design has been around a long time and they just have a red ring on this one. Good for what it is and the price though.

The reviews mention that it can take 18650 batteries, so that would be about $5 apiece if you wanted to use Lithium rechargeables, versus about $2.50 for three AAA rechargeable NiMH batteries.

EDIT: If you've got 18650 batteries, definitely use those. It's probably worth paying double for 18650 batteries over rechargeable AAA NiMH, as the Lithium 18650 will ikely last longer in the flashlight as well as have more recharge cycles. You may also want to wait for deals with flashlights that include a rechargeable battery for around the same total price of $7-$10.

I would say very likely yes. I've got a flashlight (not this one) that uses a very similar battery adapter and it measures 65mm long. Put in an 18650 and it worked fine (but it's quite a bit narrower so it might rattle).
3AAA batteries would have a working voltage of around 2.5V-4.5V (3.6V nominal), which is the same as lithium batteries (either 3V or 3.7V nominal depending on the chemistry iirc).

On the photo showing the package it says 18650.

I have same form factor Vont Blaze VNT-TF01 (probably older model). 3x AAA is fine, It came with plastic sleeve for 18650 so it would not rattle.
That said, 21700 fits (spring compresses a little more), but I am not sure if that would cause problems.
