I have a few 18650 batteries. The description does mention that it can take " a single rechargeable battery", but didn't mention the size .
In for this deal - you cannot have enough flashlights! I love the fact that they come with lanyards as I usually hang flashlights in areas I am usually needing them in, like the basement, attic, garage, office, etc. I will also use neodymium magnets to attach them to, for example, a metal lamp column in my office so they're always where I need them. I have a split level house with 5 levels so having multiple cheap flashlights stored in different areas eliminates the time spent in remembering where I last left a flashlight and trudging up and down the stairs to fetch it.

The descriptions of both deals suggest that I can use a common rechargeable lithium battery instead of the 3 AAA cells, but neither state if I can recharge the battery in the flashlight or if I have to use an external charger. I think I might prefer buying lithium cells for these.

EDIT: If you've got 18650 batteries, definitely use those. It's probably worth paying double for 18650 batteries over rechargeable AAA NiMH, as the Lithium 18650 will ikely last longer in the flashlight as well as have more recharge cycles. You may also want to wait for deals with flashlights that include a rechargeable battery for around the same total price of $7-$10.
3AAA batteries would have a working voltage of around 2.5V-4.5V (3.6V nominal), which is the same as lithium batteries (either 3V or 3.7V nominal depending on the chemistry iirc).

That said, 21700 fits (spring compresses a little more), but I am not sure if that would cause problems.
