First, this is definitely not a $100 jacket. I paid $15, but I wouldn't buy it again.
The good:
- keeps the wind out very well
- has a hood
- comfortable
- very lightweight
- packable
The bad:
- The stitching on the front started coming apart within the first month.
- it's not a super warm jacket (maybe not a con, just be aware).
Overall, quality is what you'd expect from a $15 jacket, not a $100 jacket.

Maybe you got a bad apple? I bought mine for $20 and it's on its 2nd winter of being worn pretty often. Only noticeable wear has been the zipper is stiffer than it used to be, but otherwise it's a great light top layer on 20 degree days for me
Did you wash it? My wife's lasted for several years, until she tore a hole in it. But maybe their quality has dropped?
What can you beat it with, near this price?
Also, these with great for Southern California. If you live somewhere ACTUALLY cold, I agree with you.
Nah, they're a step up from Hanes & Fruit of the Loom for undershirts.
I also own one of their packable puffer jackets with real down fill that was a true bargain at $30 - has been with me to 12+ countries around the world, used extensively and still in great condition.
