How could you not need the mop? Do you have carpet in the kitchen?
I have one downstairs. I bring it upstairs occasionally to vacuum the bedrooms which are all carpet. I could benefit from having a second one; specifically one without a mop.

Isn't this the model that lifts its mop pads when it detects carpet?
It is not. I'm glad I checked out a review first. You have to remove the mop pad from this one if you want to vacuum after mopping. At least that's according to the comparison review from Vacuum Wars.

Problem is how the mop works. If you have carpet and hard floor, the problem is the mop can drag on the carpet even with some mitigation techniques (like raising the mop a bit). The best solution is the ones that can leave the mop back at the base station and only pick it up when it does a mopping pass.
But all these cost money, so if he could save money on just vacuum that would be great.
How is the mop on this one? I have the s5 max but I think the spinning mop might be more effective.
We had S5 Max and upgraded it to Q Revo during thanksgiving since S5 max failed (struggling to climb even an thin rug).
The mop (spinning) on the Q Revo cleans much better than the S5 max (dragging type). Also we really liked the self cleaning of the spinning mop every 15-25 min during mopping and drying it at the end. The only thing we do is to empty the dirty water tank and refill the fresh one every week or 10 days.

Glad I saw this. I was really tempted to try it until I saw the mop doesn't lift.
