Why did you return it? I understand that this is highly rated for the price.
It hung around this same price for several weeks recently until it went up. I was hoping it would get cheaper.
Been really thinking of picking this up but am a bit worried about a lot of reviews mentioning the smearing effect when displaying darker content which is apparently common with VA panels. Anyone here own this monitor and could comment on how perceptible and/or annoying it is?

For anyone considering this monitor, there are updated models coming. One is the Q27G4ZMN which is also a VA panel and the other is AG275QZM which is an IPS version. Both of these will be updated from 336 to 1152 Mini-LED zones. This could be a major improvement. Both have already launched in China but have not come to the USA yet. They will though, probably in the next few months. No word yet on pricing. If you are on the fence, I would probably wait to see what these offer.

I would check out my most recent comment on the bottom. If you are not a fan of VA, an IPS version is coming that will not have the possible smearing issues. Though to be fair an IPS will not have as good contrast, so there is a trade off.

Ah yeah that information is super helpful, thank you. I'd much rather have an IPS panel monitor, especially given the big increase in dimming zones which should help improve perceived contrast for a lot of content. Will hold out for now then, thanks for the info!

For sure, no problem! The only issue I would say is there are still a lot of unknowns. Someone on Reddit in Russia has the updated VA model, but nobody outside of China seems to have the IPS yet. I am in the same boat as you and would much prefer the IPS display, the only concern I have is backlight bleed, which we won't know till people have reviewed them. You can see all old and new models upcoming on the bottom of this page on AOCs website http://saas.aoc.com/activity/AOC-...ED-Monitor

I also believe there is a 4k variant for about 50ish bucks more when on sale

Don't have this monitor but wanted to share. I had a gigabyte curved one with really bad smearing. Its particularly bad trying to play any esports titles but it can be mitgated by ramping up the brightness. I will say though samsung somehow eliminated black smearing on VA's. I have the OG g9 odyssey and theres no perceivable smearing on it.
I have this monitor picked it up for a good deal and gamed on it for a few days playing BO6 on PS5 and it's a solid monitor I'll just warn you that white scenes are crazy bright and don't look directly at the screen .. even closing your eyes its like looking at a bright flashlight that we had to turn down the brightness on it
Also to the comment stating there is other models coming to the US there are plenty of models AOC has yet to bring to the US if they even ever do that I wish they would like the Q24G4E or even the Q24G2A..

Any idea what the updated VA model will be priced at in comparison to this one?
