I mean, these tariffs are coming straight from the mouth of the man imposing them so I'm not inclined to believe it's bs. Price increases are inevitable as these tariffs go into effect. Companies still have to maintain their margins to remain profitable. Sure, it sucks, but that's the nature of what's happening. I don't disagree with speaking with your wallet, but given the economic uncertainty my struggle is in determining if this is a worthy change from the Neo G8. Personally, I'm not all that concerned with DP 2.1 at the moment. DSC isn't that much of deal breaker for me.
Who's to say the consumer will pay 25% more? The company can charge whatever they want, doesn't mean people will pay the new price. These OLED monitors average 77% profit margin. They can afford a 25% hit. What they can't afford is not selling any product. This is a discretionary product. No one needs it. Guarantee these prices don't jump 25% in two months.
That is the nature of the tariff. The cost of the tariff is passed to the consumer. The entire point of a for profit business is to make a profit. If costs go up, net income is going to decrease, and shareholders don't like that so money moves out. How does a company avoid this? By raising prices to account for the tariff. How would you like it if your cost of living increased by 25%? Would you just say oh well? Or would you try and offset the increase in costs? Companies aren't some pay-it-forward all loving entity. They exist to make money. Be prepared for the increase, but hope things remain the same, at minimum. Hell MSI is essentially selling the same monitor (322 vs 321) for $400 more dollars right now.
I didn't say prices would definitely jump 25%.
Exactly. Companies have no incentive to lower prices. If people are paying they'll continue to do so. I hope we'll stop at some point, and make a correction, but we haven't gotten there yet. The current 5000 series launch is a great example.
