You can't use this without the bushings. So in essence this tool is useless unless you have the bushings.

As stated above, useless without the bushings and I'm fairly sure if you need more than a couple sizes you're better off buying the tool in kit form.

Bushings are ~$50 each, so yeah, unless you're only stripping one wire gauge the "required accessories" cost for this will add up quick:
