Anything less than $.89/lb is a sd. $1/lb is meh. Anything in between is a good deal.

Recent prices are creeping upwards and finding anything under $1/lb is getting harder. This is a good deal given the recent price hikes on these things. I would anticipate this getting worse following the tax increases we will begin to see on all imports.

Is it better to get the cast iron hex vs the rubber coated? I heard they smell and deteriorate (I live in humid Florida)

I have both. The rubber did smell for about 3 months, even after washing multiple times. The grips are nicer than my basic cast iron dumbbells though.

cast: can't drop, but thin. but can make DIY adder weights with adhesive and 1.25 or 2.5lb free weights

rubber: thicker. droppable. smell eventually goes away. knurling grip isn't cast

going back id prob get cast iron in 10lb increments to 50lb, and make my adder weights to save space and money, and then use my Iron Masters for everything heavier up to 90lb

I had this dumbbells before and they are chunkier than my Amazon Basics dumbbells. My 20lbs BalanceFrom is as big as my 30lbs Amazon Basics.

Who does Walmart get to ship things like this? I don't want to do it to my UPS guy. I like him too much.

I'm trying to do store pick up and it's not an option for me. I'm already feeling bad for the delivery guy.

What about on the secondary market? People still post like it's 2020 pricing for used rusted hex iron dumbbells?

Ha that's a different jungle. Same reason goodwill charges retail for some of their items too.
