"Mono output" meaning not having to go through all the modes? That would be positive for me.
it only has one output level that is pretty bright. the i1R 2 Pro you twist from off to dim to full bright. the i3E only has full bright. The i3T 2 has a switch and if you push it softer/slower then it comes on dim and if you click it faster/firmly it turns on high which i like vs the click through.

I like these as opposed to the rechargeable version. The rechargeable version, as you'd expect from the size, doesn't last very long on high. I do miss the low setting (N/A for this AAA version) though.

RE: the head unscrewing off in my pocket: I've had half a dozen that get rotated to my pants pocket for backup EDC use and none of them have come lose, let alone fell apart. Maybe that person is going way too far beyond the OFF spot. If anything, a couple of mine (the rechargeable version, mind you), have very tight o-rings and are tough to rotate, the opposite of easily falling apart. These are also ones without any knurling or anything (smooth metal), so there's that too.

For an EDC/keychain Olight, I prefer the IMINI 2 with magnetic base ($14 on Amazon).

btw does anyone remember a free shipping hack? I seem to recall something along the lines of buying a battery or some small item?
I don't know about free, maybe if you are a new customer, but if you have an existing account and some O-coins from various things (e.g., clicking the wheel during previous holiday promos) you can use them for a few cents (like 5%) off the shipping.

I think the appeal of a brand like Olight comes from bigger and more conventional model flashlights. This keychain light will be nice enough but hardly better than the light on your cell phone and not enough of a WOW factor. You could probably get something from Olight or Wurkkos or the like for $30 that would spot critters in the backyard at night that would impress. Or maybe $100 on something that could turn night to day and set a piece of paper on fire. Just be careful not to stare at it while you are waiting for it to catch fire or you could go blind
This is WAY brighter than a cell phone light.

Yeah, that's an extremely rare complaint. I think I've only seen a couple of people say anything like that out of hundreds of replies in these threads. The o-ring makes it fairly tight, so there's rarely any unintended motion. I find that a 180 degree twist turns it securely off (easily done with a single two-handed twist). I've never had it turn on by itself in my pocket like that. And it takes about four times that untwisting before the top comes off, so I think a few people just massively over-twist the thing when turning it off. Mine has never even come close to coming apart unintentionally. Twisting to the point where it starts getting loose when turning it off is way too far.

Seconded. I got a couple of these from a sale and they perform well but I also found the twist motion makes them less than ideal. The two o-rings for me have kept them from turning on unintentionally. My favorite part about them though is they can accept the 10440 batteries which doubles the output because of the higher voltage. I bought some 10440's with built in usb c chargers because they are far more convenient.

Grab these for the freebie but the i3t is an amazing little light under the same principle of using the 10440 and it has two power settings and a power switch logic that really blows the other cheap lights, and streamlights out of the water. I haven't gotten into too many of the others. i did buy some of the i1R 2 Pro's for my parents for backpacking and for car work but same deal with the twist, made me realize I prefer the buttons.

To the guys asking about olight, they are definitely a step above wurkkos/etc. I'm not a flashlight nerd but have bought a few and the buttons are better and they are just designed nicer, like a human used them before they went to market (very small nuances in how they fit in your hands). They are also being pretty innovative with the magnetic chargers and more built in usb-c charging and just they have much more creative silly ideas they are trying out with various designs. I wouldn't pay streamlight prices for them but that's simply because they are still running sales for marketshare which undermines the premium product strat. I have a number of streamlights and honestly I think in most areas olight is doing better with the exception being professional users. I haven't beat up on olights and don't plan to so I can't speak to their durability but i've seen enough streamlight stingers with so much use there is more raw material than anodizing on them, i would say that reputation is rightfully relied upon.
Full voltage 10440s dont work with the I3E, only the I3T. At least, that's the case for the recent I3E's ive gotten from these kinds of 'free' promos. Still decent for 5 bucks, very lightweight and i dont have to worry about my kids losing them because hey they were 'free'.

I have 4 of these.
Super handy for keeping 1 on my keychain.
I've never had an issue with the top falling off, it's just a little turn on/off, I can do it with 1 hand.

I like the twist on/off, as I've had flashlights that go on/off with buttons and the button breaks.
I also like it takes 1 battery, and that battery lasts a long time for me.
This I can carry all the time, my "DAYLIGHT" flashlight, that turns night into day is large and great but can't be carried about everyday.

I might get another tomorrow as it's pretty and almost did it during their last "free" sale Smilie

Nice, thanks OP. I always grab these when they pop up for the free plus shipping. I put them on backpacks, dog leashes, in my car, keys, etc. Just really handy and perform very well for $5.
