Awesome deal, Im still running my Alienware Aurora R7 with liquid cooling from like 2018. Upgraded from a GTX1080 to a RTX3070. Not a single issue with this PC. I run it for about 8+ hours a day and often max out the CPU and GPU from gaming yet ive never had an issue with overheating even when my office was 90+ degrees

16GB RAM seems a bit low for a high-end build

So there is no way to overclock the CPU?
You can overclock a CPU with letter K in it.

Wow is the OC that good? This is really tempting now. I haven't overclocked anything since the early to mid 2000s. Is it easy to do?
I could OC mine with +530 MHz core running at 3250 MHz on average, and +375 MHz memory. Steel Nomad score a little over 9300 even with a relatively weak CPU (265f), and a power limit of 360w.

It's easy with Afterburner. To get +375 memory just use the Beta version with override. There seems to be even more room on GDDR7 but no software seems to allow that yet.

is the liquid cooling option worth the extra $100?
It depends. For most people who don't like to modify parts and want to stick with whatever they bought, then yes. The air cooler is a pancake one which is terrible and your CPU will almost surely overheat. If you have other offers such as Amex, then the cost delta is even smaller so well worth it.

However, if you plan to mod, then it can make sense to buy with the air cooler and update yourself. The good news is that they include the top fans too this time (I don't remember they did with R16), so you can just update with a tower air cooler yourself such as Peerless Assassin and it's cheaper and more than sufficient too. I am always suspicious with longevity with a liquid cooler and if anything goes wrong it's hard to save it with the proprietary parts.

Another reason is that the case is designed to have a huge negative pressure offset so it is a little better this way for the GPU as the air can be sucked more effectively through the side vent with no radiator in the way. So you are trading off CPU for GPU performance.

Is this one more likely to cpu throttle than the legion?

Yes. Legions come with tower coolers.

Has anyone put in 6400 MT/s with XMP and confirmed it works?

Confused about the note in the manual:
NOTE: The computer may ship with faster-rated memory, but its performance is restricted by the memory bus limit of 5200 MT/s.

re: Crucial memory upgrade to 32GB for this Aurora, should I get the DDR5 6000Mhz version or the DDR5 6400Mhz-Overclocking version? They are only a $1 difference in price

I do believe the documentation is incorrect because the memory that shipped with my system was rated at 5600 MT/s and running at 5600 MT/s according to Task manager and also CPUZ. Can anyone else confirm?

Mine also shipped and runs with 5600 MT/s memory. I installed 2x16GB sticks of 6400 MT/s and AWCC gives me the option to OC but after saving the profile, it still shows clock speed of 5600 MT/s. BIOS doesn't show the option to enable XMP either. Anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

I believe the deal is dead at the $2300+tax or less price point.
Price now shows up at $2449+tax as configured for the deal.
It appears both the RTX5080 and the air cooled 1000W power supply increased in price.

Dropped a $35 Peerless Assassin 120 SE in there today. Load CPU temp was lowered by 40c from the stock air cooler and it's more quiet too. Used to get to 100c quickly during Cinebench runs and throttle but now never went above 60c. Somehow it also helped with the GPU and I got a higher Steel Nomad score of 9355 with overclock.

Highly recommended for anyone with a stock air cooler. I read somewhere on Reddit that you need to purchase separate screws to fit Aurora R16, but in my case everything needed came in the retail box. I am also including a picture for anyone interested.

Thanks for posting. I am interested in this. I have the stock air cooler.

For the Peerless Assassin 120 SE, there also appears to be a V2 on Amazon. (There is also an ARGB version). Did you buy the original, the ARGB, or the V2 ?

Also, any issues with the bios after install?
Any issues with the fan connector being different that the OEM fan connector plug (such as 3pin vs 4 pin)

And, if you purchased it online, where did you purchase it from?

I am interested in buying this if a clean and easy swap out will work.
Thanks in advance.
