From what I have read edge lit is the least reliable.

Yeah Rtings.com warned that thin, edge lit TVs have short life spans.

Where did you find that it's edge lit? It's a thin TV so I'm sure it is edge lit, but just can never find that listed in TV descriptions.

Our barely used edge lit made it to...5.5 years.

Is it good one to spend $200 extra or $400 Hisense one?

Best Buy is a good source for determining this. In the description they have a chart on each TV product page showing the type of backlighting for the particular model.

As far as lifespan, I don't agree with RTINGS as one of my businesses we install technology which includes TVs and I have several clients with LG and Samsung edge lit TVs going around eight years strong. I do recall one particular Samsung model which had a high rate of panel issues, just off the top of my head I'm guessing model number KS 8000? Every brand and every model has a dud here or there that can go after a month a year etc. Most of these Samsung QLED models have a good reputation for longevity regardless of the type of backlighting.

As for this 2023 model posted by OP being a slick deal, not so sure because the 2024 model is only $100 more right now. 100 bucks is 100 bucks though, so to each his own to make that determination.

My Samsung MU8500 is edge lit. I've owned it for 7+ years, have averaged probably about 8 hours a day watching itso that's about 23,000 hours and was working perfectly nefore I boxed it up for resale after buying a Q80C. I can't believe how much bullcrap info is out there especially from so called experts Rtings....whose reviews are really confusing. When you see a reviewed tv live you think back to their review and ask "do these people have bad optometrists?".Instead of all the imperceptible metrics they use, and of which the Chinese are smart enough to pump up these metrics, it's always unclear WHICH TV HAS THE SHARPEST MOST ACCURATE PICTURE! I don't care about nuclear nit counts or lag time or gray uniformity. I bought a tv rated 8.1 by them and it sucked and got one rated 7.5 that looks better to me. I just want a tight clean picture, and for it to last. Now I read that edge lit won't last when I totally k
now better. It must be true if Rtings says it is....

By the way this is a great deal I bet this the Q60C will last 10 years with a great picture.

It's a old 2023 model, just 65, and lower end model. Needs to be less.

I thought KS8000 was the one everyone wanted back in the day. Was supposed to be the best bang for your buck, altho I had to go KU6300 cuz I'm poe. Interesting to see that they may have had problems.

I don't think edge lit reliability is the biggest issue, I just think that the fact there have been deals on the Hisense U6 qled that have full array local dimming at the same price is why I would be hesitant to buy this. Plus I'm sure other brands offer better entry level TVs at this price. I may be a little biased, I owned a Samsung TV but am no longer a fan.
