Be sure to research T-Mobile's locking policy and the fine print of the agreement. Basically you are locking yourself and the phone for 2 years with absolutely no way to unlock it, you can't pay off early, and you will be stuck with T-Mobile for years or you lose the bill credits.

See previous threads here on T-Mobile. They have become really consumer unfriendly in the last couple of years.
1) To check if your plan qualifies, log in and see if you have the promotion... verify by submitting your trade-in phone estimate. It's common sense. YES, most likely Simple Choice plan will qualify for this.

2) Phone cannot be cracked in the screen and no moisture/water damage. Also, cannot have destroyed pixels and dead spots. The back of the phone can have some wear & tear and cracks.

3) Best deal is to buy a Samsung S10 from eBay for your trade-in. This promotion will probably last another two weeks based on what they are saying from the subreddit.

4) You can get $100 Costco cashcard for being a Costco member. You can call or in-store. I've done both. I would probably call as it was quicker and just as simple. You also don't need to bring the phone with you. Just an IMEI. Just make sure the phone you are submitting qualifies or else you're going to be in a heap of trouble submitting the IMEI of a phone that might come cracked, etc.,

5) You can ship your trade-in phone or bring it in to a T-Mobile corporate store. Just tell them you have a phone to trade in... They will do basic checks and automatically approve your phone for trade-in on the spot. Saves you the hassle of UPS losing your trade-in phone during shipment.

Most of these questions have been asked... Just look at the old T-Mobile thread from two weeks ago.
Sprint would have free new iPhones with trade-ins with same 2 year commitment. T-Mobile also a few years back. This, their best offer, plain sucks!

Thanks for confirming that Kickstart is eligible for this. I disagree with @mcdeuce and @fifteen15; this deal means that iPhone 16e is free if I trade in iPhone 13 like you through Costco. This is, as far as I know, the first really attractive tradein since January 2022, which is when I got that iPhone 13 in part by trading in iPhone 8. It's quite possible that the next time around, iPhone 13 won't be worth as much.
Given the above, I don't see any downside and significant upside for doing as you did, even though I was not in the market for a new phone. What, if anything, am I missing?
If you have an old dirt cheap plan like those of us on KickStarter, there's no downside. I'm never leaving T-Mobile because nobody will beat 2 lines unlimited for $30 tax included.

So having to get the phone over 24 months of credits doesn't matter.

The last time we were eligible for something like this was 3 years ago. We got the iPhones 13s free with trade in back then. This deal is ever so slightly worse, but considering inflation and a super cheap plan, I think it's amazing to get $500 from T-Mobile and $100 from Costco.

how are you able to get 5 lines for $78?
2 lines are free, other than taxes and fees, because of free line promos over the years and have a legacy Simple Choice plan.

Nope- if its eligible for the $500- it says so

Yes, it will say so. It'll say something to the effect of your trade in value is $x amount, and your 24 month bill credits will be $x amount.

Have you tried since they changed their policy from 7/2024? Chatted with 4 different reps over the holidays, they wouldn't unlock my iphone 16 unless I paid off the device and give up the bill credits. Ended up bringing a spare iphone 14 and to hotspot for international travel.

Quite annoying realization as I've been a customer for over 20 years, since the days of voicestream. Might be time to hop around carriers with new customers deals.

Is it still possible for them to temporarily unlock your phone while you're traveling? T-Mobile used to do this for me during my overseas travels before my cell phones were fully paid off. They never permanently unlocked my cell phones after they were fully paid, unless I specifically requested it.

T-Life app will waive $35 connection fee if you do it in app. I am not sure you will get the fee waived in store. At least, Costco waives this fee all the time.

From what I understand, T-Mobile can do temporary unlocks for international travel for Android phones only (because presumably those phones were designed to have both a permanent and temporary unlock feature). Apple designed iPhones to only have 1 type of unlock (permanent), so T-Mobile won't do that for iPhones.
