Right? Every time I buy data storage from Amazon it's counterfeit and has like 1/20th the specs, though it has been a while since my last gamble.
Quote from espy :
How can you tell if their counterfeit?
Quote from RedElmo :
Was just wondering if these would be counterfeits too. Hummmmm
Quote from tanman99 :
Woot is owned by Amazon and has been known to sell Amazon returns. So…I think it's basically a 100% chance you get a counterfeit with this "deal"
Quote from AmusedPanther530 :
Visually you almost always can't, which is the problem. The product looks identical to the real deal.

Now if it worked identical, I'd not even care if it's counterfeit. The problem is it's usually lesser storage amount with some flashed software to make it appear on your PC as having full amount, like it'll say 400GB storage capacity but it's really only say 16GB. So you can transfer data and use the card but after reaching the 'actual' capacity it'll just be stuck.

I think most of the manufacturers now have some software checker thing on their website that will confirm if your card is real.
Multiple free options to check true capacity and verify if real thing

What makes these different?
Are they just labeled as Use with Handheld Console Gaming?

Will be using for my DJI drone and even a GoPro.

Are theses Handheld Console Gaming micro SD card designed not to be compatible with other non gaming devises?
If using with a drone or GoPro these will work. The companies just like to advertise them as being for gaming so it is easier for parents (who would not know the differences) when buying them

Reading data from memory cards is never really a problem. Writing data to them is slower, and is where a cheap card and a high end card will differ greatly. Sadly there's a couple annoying things to deal with when buying them, one being counterfeit cards which will be slower than the real deal, and two being specs being listed with meaningless claims like "write speed up to 100 MBps."

"Up to"? Just disregard any number seen after those two words. Hopefully some reviewer of the card has shared actual speed testing info.

As to requirements, it depends on the drone or GoPro model as to how fast the write speed on the card needs to be to handle the video being written to it. Is it writing 1080p video, or 4k, or even 8k? And at what framerate? The manufacturer should have a recommended card speed. If a card says U3 or V30 it means it should be able to have data written to it at 30 megabytes per second over an extended write. That should be good enough for most 4k cams AFAIK. But double check with your specific device.

I was looking for a 512 early today, but I guess I will reuse an old phone and a 256gb as a mp3 player and podcast device
did you see https://slickdeals.net/f/18152995-32-99-512gb-samsung-evo-select-microsd-memory-card-adapter-at-amazon?v=1 that was just posted? Not quite as good as the sold out 400s here, but a solid card and 6.5c/GB
