I agree. The MP44L is only $7 more and you get TLC NAND and a drive from a slightly more reputable company. The MP44L can be filled at an average of 1.7GB/s, ten times faster than the Orico O7000.

Intel Optane Xpoint drives have extremely low latency and high random access performance and are the fastest OS drives you can get. The older 900p models on PCI-E 3.0 can hit over 300 MB/s read and write while the newest P5800x are hitting close to 400 MB/s on both, still not saturating SATA6 but far faster in the read department than all other NVMe SSDs.
For reference, the Samsung 990 Pro with TLC and DRAM, one of the top tier SSDs, gets around 100 MB/s in QD1 random read (random write is 350+). You'll notice that the numbers are pretty similar to this Orico and is one of the reasons why it can be hard to tell a performance difference, especially on a fresh new install. It's under heavy workloads and when the drives fill up that the differences manifest.
Due to the above, unless you're constantly transferring large files, PCI-E version doesn't matter. The access speed of the controller matters a lot more.
