Since they closed the 3800 deal, since it didn't pop back up.
Might as well post the 4800 deal which comes down to $1499 using the EXTRA25OFF code.

Since the $1300 sale never materialized, sales not being as abundant & things are about to change for the next 4 years, this might be as good as we get for awhile.

You add A1EVO to this, that's a solid AVR & pretty much set for awhile imo!
Dirac is no longer needed especially for the cost imo!

I would add if you use any external amps, the 3800 is a better buy imo. Unfortunately a sale on that is even more elusive!

Overpriced for a refurb! Based on complaints from forums, these "made in Japan" units have much more issues compared to the "made in Vietnam" 3800.

Hopefully folks who buy these refurbs can provide some feedback as 2nd owners...

I personally know 2 with the 4800 & 3 with 3800 refurbished, all 5 have had ZERO issues!

Every brand has a failure rate!
We always have way too much "sky is falling" speculation that happens in here!

Can't add this to the cart. Assuming it's not actually in stock.

Yes, they go quickly.
They come in periodically so you have to check regularly & grab it when you see it!

I dont disagree that this is overpriced...especially for a refurb
But I have heard people getting " pocket" deals on a new X6800 for $1800-1900...likely due to the Onkyo RZ70 in the marketplace

I suspect you could get this price, for a new unit..or even slightly lower from a B&M dealer

I had never heard the Vietnam versus Japan reliability deal
I do know that the made in Japan models have much better resale

Additionally...I think Denon/Marantz only manufactures the made in Japan models. The Vietnam made models are made by a 3rd party on a contract basis

But who knows what's going to happen...with the possibility of pending tariffs,Denon/Marantz sales being off over 30% year over year and Masimo aggressively looking to sell them off, it is anyone's guess

Since we are speculating.

The reason this isn't as sought after, everyone is waiting for the unicorn $1299 sale to happen again or the 3800 was too well designed.

Depending on your setup there may not be much of an advantage especially if you use any external amps.
As a matter of fact with external amps the 3800 competes with the RZ70!

Speak of the RZ70, it doesn't really compete with the 6800.
The 6800 gives you 13 channels that are all assignable, front wide support, supports 3 pairs Atmos/X placements, 4 independent sub outs, Virtual X, 3 triggers & if you need Dirac… soon it will get Dirac ART.
You do not get this with the RZ70.

With the tariffs doesn't matter where it was made.
They will still argue where the parts were made, there is transportation cost, etc.
Easy to make an argument why they had to raise the cost, they will! 😡

Why are people waiting for a redesign of the 3800?

I 110% agree, there is zero meaningful to add especially for the cost imo.

I know people have wished for D/M to include Dirac!
I know several D/M fans that would be pissed if they did that, me included!
Dirac isn't needed at all now especially with the advent of A1EVO.

Leaving it an option to pay for IF you want is awesome imo!

The only new thing a future 3900 would bring to the table would be HDMI 2.2 and its 96 Gbps bandwidth!

How would you describe the auditory experience of these receivers with Audyssey vs A1EVO?

What does 2.2 give you? 2.1 already does 4k120. 8k? Aint nobody needs that.

I'm not saying I want or need HDMI 2.2 I'm just answering your question of what a "newer" 3800 should bring to the table!

Very similar to the descriptions people say why Dirac is better.
Often people say it tightens the sound up and has more clarity.

The nice thing is Audyssey doesn't separate their RC between loudspeakers & subwoofer(s).
So you would need DLBC to get it with Dirac!
